OBJECTIVES   Students will gain an understanding of how document imaging can be used and
             managed in both small and large-scale organizations. Document imaging is the
             process of taking documents out of file cabinets, and off shelves, and storing
             them in a computer system. This course provides an understanding of the details
             that there is often no time to review in the rush to implement a system. The
             course content is intended to be useful to students in their professional work for
             twenty years into the future and is also intended to be useful for planning to
             preserve digital documents forever.

INSTRUCTOR’S PROFILE
                             John W. Orth, CDIA

                            John was born and raised in Racine, WI and graduated from Marquette
                            University with a Nuclear Engineering Degree in 1962 and an MBA in 1965.
                            He has been professionally involved in medical imaging and document
                            imaging analysis for over 30 years. He retired as Imaging Systems
                            Manager for Data Financial Business Services in Mequon, WI in Sept 2007
                            where he specialized in image processing of paper checks and remittance
                            documents. He is currently a Principal Consultant for Imerge Consultants
  in the field of Remittance Processing and Healthcare Enterprise Records Management. On Oct 28,
  2004 the Federal Government’s Check 21 law became effective, legalizing the digital replacement of
  paper checks for bank processing which has opened up a whole new field of image quality and
  content management issues. John is currently a contributor to an Industry initiated standards
  committee to set rules for minimum image quality standards required to produce a legal digital copy
  which can be used to print a legible copy called a “substitute check” or IRD. He is also active in the
  new ANSI standards for check image exchange that is becoming the national standard for electronic
  check image clearing. He has served as project manager for several electronic document
  installations for healthcare, government and commercial organizations and is familiar with computer
  network security and disaster recovery requirements as well as the latest storage solutions for
  imaging applications.

  John achieved the CDIA, (Certified Document Imaging Analyst) certification in 2000 and the CDIA+
  upgrade in 2004 and a certified CDIA+ instructor. He has been an active member of the AIIM
  association since 1999, and is Past President of the Wisconsin Chapter of AIIM and serves on a
  national technical advisory committee for the Association. He was recently elected as a principal in
  the Imerge Consulting Group and their lead consultant for their HealthCare and Banking group.

   John volunteers as a Director of the Ozaukee Habitat for Humanity Chapter, Docent for the
  Discovery World in Milwaukee, and Choir member for St. Joseph’ Church in Grafton, WI. He has
  recently also served on the Wisconsin State Legislative Review Committee on Nuclear Power to
  provide the State Legislature with an update on the current developments in the Nuclear Power and
  radioactive waste disposal Technology.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT TERMS & INSTRUCTIONS:

      other companies please complete an International Wire Transfer. The details will be included on your invoice
      from Lorson Resources Limited.
   7. A 5% discount shall apply for groups of five (5) participants or more from one organisation.
   8. The price of the course also covers morning and afternoon snack breaks, lunch, manuals/course materials
      and certificate.
   9. PAYMENT AND REGISTRATION SUBSTITUTION POLICY
      Substitute participants are permitted for individuals from the same company or organization. Substitution
      requests must be received in writing, and validated by a supervisor, no later than 5 (five) business days
      before the first day of the registered program.

   10. CANCELLATION POLICY
       Lorson Resources Limited reserves the right to cancel courses, programs, workshops or seminars at any
       time for any reason. The decision to cancel is at the sole discretion of Lorson Resources Limited. In the
       event Lorson Resources Limited cancels a program, trainees will be sent a full refund. Consequently, Lorson
       Resources Limited assumes no responsibility or liability for any transportation, travel, or penalty costs
       incurred by customers in making their travel arrangements.

       Neither Lorson Resources Limited nor any of its affiliates shall be liable for any direct, indirect, special,
       consequential, incidental or punitive damages (including, without limitation, lost profits or revenues, costs of
       replacement goods, business interruption and loss or damage arising out of registration for any of Lorson
       Resources Limited's courses, programs, workshops or seminars.

       All cancellations received less than 15 (fifteen) days prior to the first day of courses are non-refundable.

  • 6. INSTRUCTOR’S PROFILE John W. Orth, CDIA John was born and raised in Racine, WI and graduated from Marquette University with a Nuclear Engineering Degree in 1962 and an MBA in 1965. He has been professionally involved in medical imaging and document imaging analysis for over 30 years. He retired as Imaging Systems Manager for Data Financial Business Services in Mequon, WI in Sept 2007 where he specialized in image processing of paper checks and remittance documents. He is currently a Principal Consultant for Imerge Consultants in the field of Remittance Processing and Healthcare Enterprise Records Management. On Oct 28, 2004 the Federal Government’s Check 21 law became effective, legalizing the digital replacement of paper checks for bank processing which has opened up a whole new field of image quality and content management issues. John is currently a contributor to an Industry initiated standards committee to set rules for minimum image quality standards required to produce a legal digital copy which can be used to print a legible copy called a “substitute check” or IRD. He is also active in the new ANSI standards for check image exchange that is becoming the national standard for electronic check image clearing. He has served as project manager for several electronic document installations for healthcare, government and commercial organizations and is familiar with computer network security and disaster recovery requirements as well as the latest storage solutions for imaging applications. John achieved the CDIA, (Certified Document Imaging Analyst) certification in 2000 and the CDIA+ upgrade in 2004 and a certified CDIA+ instructor. He has been an active member of the AIIM association since 1999, and is Past President of the Wisconsin Chapter of AIIM and serves on a national technical advisory committee for the Association. He was recently elected as a principal in the Imerge Consulting Group and their lead consultant for their HealthCare and Banking group. John volunteers as a Director of the Ozaukee Habitat for Humanity Chapter, Docent for the Discovery World in Milwaukee, and Choir member for St. Joseph’ Church in Grafton, WI. He has recently also served on the Wisconsin State Legislative Review Committee on Nuclear Power to provide the State Legislature with an update on the current developments in the Nuclear Power and radioactive waste disposal Technology.
