Abel Ferrara Presents ... GO GO Tales
[GO GO Tales, Ruby]
The GO GO Tales is beautiful and finally to hit theaters. The opportunity to meet
the legendary is in New York directed by director Abel Ferrara.
We live in sad times. An age where works as good as Go Go Tales could not find
distributors. Well, not quite. The publisher Capricci released the film on
Wednesday. Go Go Tales has been presented at Cannes in 2007 and it is not

the work of an unknown filmmaker, but a famous one-Abel Ferrara. It is New
York independent film-battered face, mythical resting on the shoulders, raucous
voice, and gargantuan interspersed laughter, betraying a still alive. This is what
we will hold our first meeting with the fellow, very talkative, but stirring as a roach,
"Go Go Tales is not a 3D movie and George Clooney does not play into it," says
Ferrara , half-resigned, half-lucid, explaining the five years that separated the
presentation of the film and its release in France.
Go Go Tales, as the title suggests, is a tale - the Paradise hangs the fate of a lost
winning lottery ticket. Such clubs no longer exist, according to the director who
said he was inspired by a box in New York that was called the VIP. Ferrara had
already made a film about a strip club - Fear City: "It was a more realistic version
if you will, here we are in fantasy." A fantasy of a human and maddening
tenderness, rather distant, at first, of Mafia movies of the author and characters
seeking redemption, King of New York and Our Funeral in mind, in which the
face hallucinated Christopher Walken does wonders. This is also for Walken that
the filmmaker had originally written the role, Ferrara admits, but the actor was not
available: "The theatrical side of toutre suited very well to well Dafoe." And
indeed, this is the adventure of a band that follows - Ruby in the father
(exemplarily in the scene where one of his "girls" tells him she's pregnant).
