El documento discute dos enfoques principales al modelo de software libre en el arte contemporáneo de Argentina y América Latina: 1) El enfoque "instrumental" que usa el software libre como una herramienta sin preocuparse por las formas de creación o circulación, y 2) El enfoque "político" que elige el software libre por razones educativas e inspiración en abrir el "código" de una obra de arte. Se proporcionan varios ejemplos de proyectos artísticos que utilizan estas aproximaciones al software libre.
