Richard Turere is a Maasai cow herder from Kenya who created a lion deterrent to protect his cattle. In his TED Talk, he shares his journey from herding cows and dreaming of flying in planes, to standing on the TED stage. He engages the audience with stories of his culture and the events that led him to invent a device that made peace with the lions and saved his livelihood. While English is his second language, Richard tells his story with strong imagery, humor, and a conversational tone.

5. Dynamism 4/5
Richard stumbled a bit/paused a little too long on his words,
which is acceptable due to English being his second language.
He also tended to have a nervous habit of slinging his arms to
his side which was somewhat distracting.
6. Similar to the methods practiced by Garr Reynolds and Nancy Duarte,
Richard’s slides were simple images relative to the discussion.
7. In Comparison
Both Richard Turere and Brian Cox feel very strongly for their topics.
However, Brian’s presentations have an overall focus on dry humor
with a serious undertone while Turere has a more simple humor with
a conversational tone throughout.
8. Based on this TED Talk
I would suggest that my classmates feel strongly for any subject they
choose to present. Not only does it make the job more fun; it makes
the presentation all the more engaging for the audience.
