This document summarizes the accomplishments of the Bloomington-Normal Young Professionals Kiwanis Club for the 2012-2013 year. It lists numerous volunteer activities the club participated in, including sorting food for local food banks, fundraising for various causes through events like bowling and bunco, and serving meals at a homeless shelter. (BNYP) Kiwanis Club is celebrated it’s 4th
birthday in Feb 2013
So, what
did we
accomplish
in the
2012-2013
Kiwanis
year?
4. The MFB mission is to alleviate hunger
and poverty by gathering and distributing
food donations.
We’ve worked
our backs,
arms, legs, and
jaws (chatting)
while sorting
food for the
Midwest Food
Bank (MFB).
5. We accepted the
Traveling Gavel
from the El Paso
Kiwanis Club (in a
functional bird
feeder). Rex from
the El Paso club
partners with
Kindergartner
kids to make up
to 100 of these
every year
6. We sorted food for the Clare
House, a faith-based
organization known for their
soup kitchen and food
pantry, during their annual
fall food drive.
7. We celebrated the 90th
anniversary of the
Kewanee Kiwanis Club
and were able to meet
two past Kiwanis
International Presidents!
8. We braved the
freezing cold to
raise money for
the Salvation Army
The money raised
is used to provide
Christmas dinners,
clothing, and toys
for families in
need.
9. We (actually) braved
the freezing cold
to participate in
the 2013 Polar
Plunge which
benefits Special
Olympics Illinois
athletes.
10. We Bowled For
Kids Sake (on the
same day as the Plunge,
no less) to raise
money for Big
Brothers Big
Sisters whose
mission is to
help mentor
children to reach
their full
potential.
11. We played Bunco
to help raise
money for the
Spastic Paralysis
Research
Foundation
which provides
grants to
researchers
specializing in
Spastic Paralysis
and other central
nervous system.
12. We participated
in the Pepper
Ridge
Elementary
School Clean-up
as a part of
Earth Day and
Global Youth
Services Day
with Big
Brothers Big
Sisters of
McLean County.
13. We hosted our 4th
annual garage
sale fundraiser
for the Autism
Society of McLean
County’s Autism
Camp.
We raised $3,200
dollars, sending
16 kids to camp
for free.
14. Autism Camp is
dedicated to
providing a valuable
experience for
children on the
autism spectrum in a
natural outdoor
setting on Lake
Bloomington.
Children have the
opportunity to
engage in typical
camp activities,
including, canoeing,
swimming, horseback
riding, games, and
much more in a safe
and supportive
atmosphere
16. We stuffed
backpacks with
school supplies in
for the annual
Back 2 School
Party.
The Back 2 School
Alliance provides
free school
supplies to over
1500 students in
need within
Bloomington-
Normal public
schools.
18. We went to the
Mackinaw Valley
Winery for the 4th
year in a row.
We socialized and
enjoyed the
evening’s
entertainment –

and an
engagement!
