for the New Year, the City of Doral is providing you and your business with two great Opportunities for learning how to do it.
1 - Mayor's Citizens Government Academy
Starting on January 28 th , and every Tuesday for 10 weeks,
will take place the 5 th session of the Mayor's Citizens
Government Academy. This annual workshop, Organized by
the Code Compliance Department, Doral Provides residents
and business owners With the chance of learning first-hand
how the government of the City of Doral works.
During a two-hour session every week, the operation of a
department from the city will be Explained to the audience by
Either the manager or members of the staff perform the tasks
That To provide service to the residents and business owners
in Doral.
It is an extraordinary opportunity not only for meeting your
neighbors and the Authorities but Also for learning about the
way government works in our municipality, the County, the
State and even the country. Those That Doral residents have
recently moved to the city Should take advantage of this
training in order to understand the rules and Procedures of
Their new community.
Understanding the operation of the government of the City
Provides residents with a new point of view That makes them
better appreciate the importance of being involved in. the
community.
At the end of the ten weeks, Those That Attend 80% or more
of the sessions receive a certificate and are publicly Recognized During a Council Meeting.
Several graduates from previous sessions of the Mayor's Citizens Government Academy Have Become Involved so interested
in helping and taking care of the City they call home, decides to commit and That Their Time and Efforts volunteer working on
different City Advisory Boards. But Those Who Have not even got that Become Involved still strong and influential voices for
the wellbeing of the community.

2 - Incentives for Businesses That hire People with Disabilities
On January 30 th from 9 to 11 am will take place at workshop
for business owners on government incentives for businesses
hire That People with Disabilities.
With presentations by Organizations: such as Enterprise
Florida, South Florida Division of Blind Services, K-Lo
Enterprises, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and South Florida
Workforce Among Others, business owners in attendance
will learn about the different incentives the government can
Provide them and what are the requirements for hiring These
employees.
Those incentives include tax breaks, follow up by counselors;
30 days payments and many others, Depending on the
agreements and the agencies or divisions Involved.
Application requirements and Procedures Explained
Extensively will be at the workshop.
This is one of the the Special Needs Initiatives Advisory
Board of the City of Doral has developed for providing
assistance to the many residents of the City That have
disabilities and to inform businesses of These alternatives.

the agencies; They are very Committed and want to work.
They are looking forward to being part of the workforce and be

Every Tuesday, beginning January 28, participants in the 5th City
Academy (Mayor's Citizens Government Academy) City of Doral, will
meet for 10 weeks at the headquarters of the Mayor.
This training, which is issued once a year since 2009 and each year
increases the number of participants, is organized by the Department
of Policies and Procedures (Code Compliance) and represents an
excellent opportunity for residents and businesses of Doral learn
firsthand about the process of municipal government.
Each weekly session is dictated by the Director of each department of
the City or any member of his team, who explained to the audience the tasks and processes that perform to provide services
to the community in Doral.
It is a unique opportunity not only to meet other neighbors and city officials, but to learn and understand how the municipal
government and even county government, the state and the country works.
We strongly recommend the participation of Doral residents who have recently moved to the city to learn about their new
environment and understanding the rules, processes and procedures of their new community.
Understanding the method of city government provides participants a new perspective, allowing them to better appreciate the
importance of following the rules and actively involved in the community.
Once culminated 10 weeks of training, those who have attended 80% or more of the sessions receive a certificate of
appreciation during a Council meeting.
Many graduates of the previous sessions of the Citizens Academy have decided to actively participate and get involved in
government activities, the point of giving their time voluntarily participating in several committees of the City. And many others
have become influential spokesmen and to ensure the welfare of the community activists.
All sessions are conducted in English and the entire 10-week course is free. Space is limited and the deadline to register is
January 23. The Registration Form can be found on the website of the City of Doral
2 - Incentives for companies hiring disabled
The informative workshop on government incentives for businesses that hire people with disabilities will be held on Thursday,
January 30th, from 9am to 11am at the headquarters of the Mayor.
Among the companies participating as panelists include Enterprise Florida, South Florida Division of Blind Services, K-Lo
Enterprises, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, South Florida Workforce and others. Entrepreneurs who attend will learn about
government incentives available and what are the requirements to apply them to create jobs for people with disabilities.
Sales tax advisors up with 30 days of payment, are some examples of incentives that employers receive, depending on the
agreements they reach with governmental agencies or divisions involved. Details of these incentives, requirements for
participation in the program of employment generation and procedures to be followed will be extensively explained in the
informative workshop.
This activity is one of the initiatives of the Committee of Citizens with Special Needs in the City of Doral, who collected the
needs of residents with disabilities and inform the local government on ways to support those needs.
"These people are professionally prepared and have the support of various agencies. They have a high level of commitment
and desire to work, they want to be part of the productive power of the city, "said Ms. Luz Marina Rosenfeld, activist and
member of the Special Needs Committee, who is part of the team that is organizing the event with the support of the Doral
Business Council.
Participation in the workshop is free. Registration begins at 8:30 am and presentations will be made between 9 and 11 am in
the City Council Chamber.
