7. Narratives I believe that the narratives in this video are clear, which is essential in a music video. The narratives in the music video go with the lyrics of the song. FIRST NARRATIVE a boy is sat with his sister listening to his mum and dad arguing. He steps in stopping his dad pushing his mum around, showing that he is a firework and letting his light shine. SECOND NARRATIVE at a party a self conscious girl refuses to get in the pool with her friends. She shows everyone that she can be like everyone else and jumps in the pool fearless. THIRD NARRATIVE a girl is sat in a hospital bed watching TV. She is in a hospital gown with no hair, leading us to believe she has cancer. She steps outside showing everyone who and what she is.
9. FOURTH NARRATIVE a man is sat in the corner of a club on his own while everyone else is dancing. He gets up and kisses a man, showing he isn’t afraid of who he is. FIFTH NARRATIVE a man is being mugged down a dark street. Instead of finding any money in his pockets, they find that he does magic tricks. At the end of the video, there is a large crowd of people out in the middle of Budapest with fireworks coming off them showing that everyone is individual as well as unique and have their own talents.

12. Mise-en-Scene The video is set in Bucharest. It is set at night and in places which are well known to us as viewers, eg. Clubs, streets, parties, in the house. This video is a representation of every day worries and reflection of things which happen in society, eg. Worries about weight or homosexuality, domestic violence, illnesses. In this video, the costumes are casual, to reflect every day life. As the main singer, Katy Perry is wearing a long floaty dress, establishing herself as the singer. In this video, the lighting is mostly dark, emphasising that it is being shot at night. This also makes it easy for the fireworks to stand out when they are set off. As a convention of a music video, there is an element of live performance. When Katy Perry is seen in a shot, she is singing.
