Proyect topic: encourage reading in the European and collaborative
development of a creative writing workshop.
The eTwinning project attempts to link the main symbols of the
European Union1 (flag, anthem and motto) with the ideas of reading and
future of the European project.
Promotion
Promotion of The European Union flag2 has been an inspiration to create the logo of
European dimension: the project, in which the twelve official stars are replaced by yellow
figures of a girl who reads.
The European Union anthem3 is played with flute by a group of students
of the 6th year of Primary Education, with accompaniment to the videos
of their younger colleagues.

4. Also, the motto of the European Union4 ("United in diversity") has
influenced on the conception of this project, this motto expresses how
the diversity of cultures, traditions and languages of Europe is its
greatest asset. And, as you have seen below, inspired the choice of the
phrase that encapsulates the philosophy of this eTwinning project,
reading relating to the recognition of the value of diversity and collective
future guarantees.
"WE ARE READING THROUGH ALL CONTEMPORARY MEN AND
CITIZENS OF ALL COUNTRIES"
[Ode, XV, à l'Académie française]
Antoine Houdar de La Motte (1672-1731), french writer and playwright.
The philosophy of our
project in one
sentence:
sentence:
There are various ways for the citizens of Europe to feel part of the same
future. But we are convinced that one of these clear, direct, rewarding,
inspiring, engaging and liberating roads is reading. And the children of
our schools, book lovers and school library lovers are the best
representatives of that message with this eTwinning project:
Europe: Reading is also the Future.
Europa: La Lettura è anche il Futuro.
Europa: La Lectura también es el Futuro.

Activities:
Activities
3.1. Development of the advertising campaign for reading in Europe
Children will develop this part of the project in collaboration with fellow
7. correspondents who have been assigned, forming thus couples or small
groups.
Each child will decide a reason why it's important to read or a reason
why he enjoys the books, expressing it in a short sentence. If two
children share the same correspondent, the two together will decide a
sentence.
Each child will send your idea about reading and your photo to its
correspondent or correspondents. So in each school will work with the
ideas of the correspondents, so accustomed to using the ideas of others,
respected, valued and caregivers.
Each idea will be prepared with two tasks:
First task:
There will be a small sign photo with each child and the idea of his/her
correspondent, photographing each one while holding in his/her hands
the picture of his/her correspondent. A comic balloon will be addedto
the photos with the text of the idea of the correspondent. At the
discretion of teachers, children may participate as their literate
capacities in the writing of texts. All posters will have an agreed format
(size, titles, logos ...). These posters will be published as image files in
JPEG format will be three versions of each, with texts in English, Italian
and Spanish.
Second task:
Some interventions will be videotaped exposing the idea of the
correspondents, while holding in hand his/her photographs. Criteria will
be agreed upon in advance minimum technical and aesthetic
development of these videos. Children will have a European symbol in
their hands (eTwinning logo, yellow stars representing the European flag
...) or a background of European flag. Each school will record the videos
in your language (Spanish or Italian) and all will be subtitled in English.
As the music video, the students of 6th year of Primary Education from
Tremañes School will interprete with flute the "Ode to Joy", recognized
as the anthem of the European Union since 1972. This piece is the last
movement of the Ninth Symphony composed in 1823 by Ludwig van
Beethoven playing music to the poem "Ode to Joy" written by Friedrich
von Schiller in 1785 and expressing the idealistic vision of humankind as
brothers.
3.2. Collaborative writing of a story
First task:
Each class will work with the classroom correspondent of the same age
to write a story together. To do so we will practice creative technique
known as "Bit-tales." It consists of having 112 suggestive images (33
characters, 18 views, 8 animals, 10 vehicles, 43 different everyday
objects). Of those images have to choose between the two classes
8. correspondents, 2 figures, 1 landscape, 1 animal, 1 car and 2 objects.
These 7 selected images must appear in the storyline. A class begins the
story and sends to his correspondents, it continues and returns it, the
class that the story began preparing two alternate endings and the other
class decides on the final and proposed a title for the story.
Second task:
Each school children draw the story. In his drawings he writes the text
with a computer, doing an Italian version and a version in Spanish.
Children can participate, according to their literate abilities, to write
texts on their computer in their language. Prepare a digital book
(Camalea, Slide, Issuu ...) and it is exposed on the Internet.
