Image Planning
1) What is the genre of your magazine? Explain the ideas and messages
represented in this genre.
The genre of my magazine is Classical; they give a message of sophistication and
tranquility due to the use of instruments that are used in the music for example
pianos and violins. They present the idea that the audience is higher social class by
the high cost of type of instruments used and the expense of going to watch those
types of performances.
2) What groups will you be representing in your images? E.g. age, gender,
ethnicity
Classical is open to both genders, however the age it’s aimed at is for older
higher-class people of a mature age. As the magazine is quite expensive
working class people wont be able to buy because they will only have enough
money to buy for their needs and not wants. It is aimed at older people, as
the music is calm and peaceful to their fragile hearing.
3) How will you be representing them through the mis-en-scene?
Action – what will they be doing?
Costume – what will they be wearing?
Make-up/Hair
Props
The model will be in a pose that is structured,as the music is also something that is
typically structured. The costume the model will be wearing is a pink dress because
when I gave the questionnaire out the colour people associated with classical was
mostly pink. I want her hair straight so it connotates that this type of music is
controlled and the make-up will be limited with a little eyeliner. The props that I will
be using are a candle, chair, piano, violinand mirror.
4) What camera shots will you use? Close up, medium shot, long shot.
The camera shots I will use are medium close up of the model with a candle
in her hand with the light shut and a close up of the model doing a structured
pose. I will also do a long shot of the girl on the floor leaning over on the chair
and a general pose of her.
