2. Simple sentence:
• A simple sentence is one sentence on its own.
• The sentence must have a verb and a subject.
• Always remember a capital letter and a full
stop.
• The trees blew in the wind.
3. Compound sentence:
• A compound sentence is 2 separate sentences
joined together by a connective.
• Again, each sentence must have a subject and
a verb so that it each sentence makes sense
on its own.
• The trees blew in the wind but the river
remained calm.
4. Complex sentences:
A complex sentence is one sentence joined to a
clause. The clause does not make sense on its
own.
Complex sentences should also have commas.
There are two ways to make a complex sentence:
1. Dropped in clause
The trees, which had been still for most of the
day, blew in the wind.
2. Starting with a verb or adverb
Swaying gently, the trees creaked in the wind.
