Quarter Three Tiered
Learning Project
Technology in America
Goals of the Project
 You will complete a project that is respective of
your needs.
 You will plan & create a product to answer a
driving question about technology in America.
 You will locate & evaluate sources of information
for your project.
Two Tiers
 You will be divided into two tiers dependent upon
how you do on the Quarter Three Preassessment.
 Tier One:
 83% or above on the preassessment.
 You will select a driving question from a list provided
to answer with your project.
 Tier Two:
 82% or below
 You will us historical information to answer a driving
question about history.
The Driving Questions
Tier One: Select one of the following:
 Can technology impact human evolution?
 How is technology impacting human
literacy?
 Is technology bringing humans closer
together or driving them further apart.
 Will technology make human work
obsolete?
 Are there limits to what technology can
do to improve human life?
 Tier Two:
 Your question is meant to help
you review the content you
need to learn.
 How did technology shape the
way Americans lived their lives
in the late-19th and early-20th
centuries.
The questions will be explained in more detail later.
Products to Create
 All students, regardless of their tier, will be creating
Common Craft Type Videos.
 Some of you have created these before as an option,
however, we have yet to do one as a whole class.
 We will watch a few examples in class to help you
prepare a video.
 The basic idea is that you will create a 2-4 minute
video that uses simply done, hand-made crafts and
objects to help you answer your driving question.
The Steps
1. Take the preassessment
2. Select your question and product you’ll create.
3. Locate & Evaluate Sources
4. Create an annotated bibliography.
5. Conduct research
6. Create project
7. Edit/Revise Product
8. Share product
9. Evaluate project
Grading
 Your final product will be assessed based upon the
following criteria:
 Your Ideas: You will be asked to use several idea-
generating techniques to help you plan and create your
product. You will need to show me that you used these in
creating your product.
 Originality: The final product needs to be creative and
show your own personal touch. It should not simply be a
retelling of your research.
 Value of the Product: Your product will need to answer the
driving question with sufficient an accurate detailed
information to support your claim.
 RUBRICS WILL BE AVAILBLE ON D2L FOR ANY
GRADED ASSIGNMENT.
