- Increase of impervious surfaces has led to degradation of streams and water quality, flooding, property damage, biotic integrity. With more impervious surfaces, 1-2 yr storm events happen more frequently due to higher evaporation, thus more opportunity for precipitation. So, our bank-fulls become more often, eroding the streams.
