3.  In 1941, Ho Chi Minh wanted to free Vietnam
from colonial domination. He used passages
from the United States Declaration of
Independence. The United States was on
Vietnam’s side because they didn’t want “1.1
billion potential enemies”, considering that
Europe would be the cause of the enemies.

4.  In 1954, after French forces were defeated, a
peace conference was held in Switzerland, at
which the French and Vietnamese agreed to
divide Vietnam temporarily into a non-
communist South and a communist North, and
aimed for reunification by two years.

5.  The United States sent 18,000 advisors to
Vietnam and the use of napalm, defoliants, fire
free zones, and jet planes.
 Later, the South Vietnamese generals
overthrew the Diem government and killed
President Diem

6.  After much fighting and change in authority,
the United States began bombing North
Vietnam after peace talks reached an impasse
 In 1973, the U.S, South Vietnam, North
Vietnam and the Viet Cong signed a peace fire
agreement, causing the United States to
withdraw from South Vietnam
