I am an experienced professional with proven skills working with students from diverse
academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. I would like to take this
opportunity to highlight my strengths and why I would be an excellent asset to your
organization. I believe that success in an organization relies on the combination of
various strengths of the individuals who work there and what I have to offer to your
institution is of great value.
As a Safe Routes to School Coordinator at the Solano Transportation Authority, I work
with 16 schools in the Vallejo City Unified School district, working with Academic
Support Providers to encourage children to walk or bike to school. We promote the
program with educational events, student prizes, and safety projects. I enjoy meeting
new people in the local community and helping educators find ways to make school
safety activities fun.
I have been working in an educational environment for over fifteen years, as an
instructional assistant, a yard duty, and I have been substitute teaching for five years.
Many of the students and teachers know me as Mrs. Nance, a dependable and likable
guest teacher. In addition to working in the educational field by day, I have been
attending college classes in the evening. My experience working with teens and young
adults, as well as my love of learning has inspired me to pursue employment in higher
education.
I am currently a youth leader at my local church. I work with middle school age girls. I
enjoy spending time with these girls every week. We engage in community activities
and help to support the girls with any problems that they may have.
My passion in life is to help people find their purpose and path in life. Helping students
achieve educational, professional and personal goals is my ideal goal. Let me show
you what my innovative ideas can bring to your organization.
Thank you for your time,
Melissa Nance
