To expand consumer buzz
surrounding the event and featured
shows, Beck Media & Marketing
conceived and executed a social
media-powered Q&A between top
NBC talent and major online
entertainment news sites. Plugged-in
television enthusiasts submitted
questions to on-site reporters via
Facebook and Twitter and the
reporters then asked talent the best
questions during an in-person
exclusive interview. Talent answers
were then published as news articles,
sustaining live social media buzz
throughout the day—from question
submission through interview posting.

Squarz 2011
Social shopping startup Squarz was
looking for a way to retain—in the
form of “Likes”—more of the traffic
coming across their Facebook page
during their pre-launch phase. Beck
Media & Marketing implemented a
tactic referred to as “fan gating,”
where valuable content is barricaded
behind the “Like.” With this
technique, users are teased with a
display of locked content and
promised the content will be
unlocked and viewable upon Liking
the page.
Beck Media & Marketing designed
and coded a custom Facebook
landing tab—branded in the style of
the Squarz website—which
barricaded clues about the platform
behind the “Like.” Curious users that
had been funneled to the page via
Twitter and e-mail landed on the
custom tab and were enticed to
“Like” the page in order to unlock
the clues about the platform.

NBC Universal 2011
NBC Universal hosted an A-list premiere
event for their superhero drama series
“The Cape” at The Henry Fonda Music Box
in Hollywood. The network invited several
hundred of their top contacts: television
fans and enthusiasts, NBC supporters,
industry influencers, and show critics.
NBC had an interactive element planned
for the event as well: a green-screen
photo booth where guests could have
their faces superimposed into a branded
comic book cover, the image of which
could be downloaded at a later time.
NBC asked Beck Media & Marketing to
add a social media layer that could amplify
buzz of the premiere beyond the walls of
the physical venue, and into the online
networks of the influencers in attendance.
Beck Media & Marketing worked closely with NBC’s Event and Operations Director to equip the area around the photo booth with four
internet-connected computer kiosks. These kiosks permitted guests to access their photos mere minutes after they had been taken, and
immediately push those photos out to online networks via Facebook, Twitter, and direct e-mail.
Beck Media & Marketing also coordinated with the event’s photo vendor to customize the default share message that accompanied each
photo. Sharing on Facebook included the show tune-in information, and sharing on Twitter included the custom hashtag #TheCape.

to be featured by Microsoft at the
2012 International Consumer
Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and
National Retail Federation EXPO in
New York, FaceCake had to rapidly
overhaul its web presence for the
product.
Along with refining Swivel by
FaceCake’s marketing position and
media collateral, Beck Media &
Marketing translated the refreshed
messaging into a highly visual, digital
form, and optimized the Swivel
homepage to funnel the flurry of new
visitors into contact forms specific to
the respective conference
appearances.
