An Oasis girl …

…wants to build life skills and make healthy choices,
…wants to express herself and support others to have a voice,
… wants to go to college and have a career,
… and she wants to empower herself!!!
Oasis For Girls Programs are for young women ages 14-17. African American, Arab, Latina,
Native, Asian and Pacific Islander, low-income, immigrant women, transgender and queer women
are strongly encouraged to apply. You must be committed to attending the entire
program.
Oasis For Girls provides the following learning opportunities:
Life Skills Education Program
is a safe space to talk about and get information on physical, emotional, and mental health
needs of young women through a series of workshops, reflective journaling and field trips
on Saturdays all over San Francisco! Topics include anti-oppression, LBGT issues, history
of women’s rights struggle, body image, stress management, healthy relationships, safer sex,
sexual harassment, substance use, conflict resolution, depression, nutrition, self-defense and
much more!
Arts Education Program
is a partnership with Writer’s Corp that teaches creative writing skills, confidence, and
healthy self expression. Young women will explore creativity through writing and spoken
word performance to address issues facing girls in San Francisco.
College & Career Planning Program
is an opportunity to gain job readiness skills and prepare for advanced education and
careers through technology training. Young women work in a computer lab to create a life
plan, explore careers and colleges and learn about preparing for a job; field trips include
job site visits and campus tours at local colleges and universities.

The mission of Oasis For Girls is to partner with under-resourced girls
and young women to help them discover opportunities and explore their dreams.
Our youth development programs provide a safe space to cultivate the skills,
knowledge, and confidence to build strong futures for girls, young women
and their communities.
Applying for Oasis For Girls (use this checklist):
☐ Read the application packet and complete page 4. Remember to answer the essay questions.
☐ Turn in your application by mail, fax, email or walk-in; Program Coordinators will review your
application; only complete applications will be accepted and are due by
J anuary 25th at 2 pm
☐ A Program Coordinator will call you to schedule an interview at Oasis For Girls; make sure you
print your contact numbers clearly and be expecting a call from us!
☐ Interview with the Program Coordinators (Megan & Mia); check the directions so you arrive on
time for your interview, if you are going to be late, please call ahead and let us know at
(415) 701-7991. If you faxed your application, please bring the original copy when you
arrive for your interview. Program Coordinators will assign participants for each program
based on the applications and interviews. We accept between 15-20 participants for each
program.
☐ If you are accepted, Program Coordinators will call you to invite you to participate in a
program. If you receive a message, you must call back and confirm your spot in the program
or we will offer your spot to another girl. If you are not accepted, Program Coordinators
will call and put you on the waiting list; if the program remains full, you will be on the
priority list for the next session. We will contact you again to confirm your interest before
the next program begins.
