2. LONDON 2014
London is a leading global city buzzing with excitement. With
the huge success of the London Olympics London’s popularity is
at its highest ever. A diverse cosmopolitan hub for finance,
education and the arts, London is becoming more and more
chic. Many business tycoons and high net worth families own
homes in the UK capital. In such a huge metropolis it can be
hard for foreign investors to know where to look when
purchasing property. So what are the hottest postcodes in
London?
3. W 1S H A N OVER SQU A R E A N D SAVILE
ROW
Hanover Square is situated south-west of the popular shopping
district Oxford Circus, making it close to some outstanding local
amenities. Savile Row is known primarily for its world famous
tailoring and bespoke suit-making shops. It was on top of 3
Savile Row that the Beatles made their final live performance.
The Royal Geographical Society previously occupied number 1
Savile row, where they planned exhibitions to the South-Pole,
Africa and Asia. With its rich history and luxurious feel W1S is
definitely a hot London postcode.

T H I S B U I L D I N G .
5. W1J MAYFAIR
Home to the American embassy and exclusive restaurant Nobu, Mayfair
is a well-known luxurious area in London. The freehold of a large portion
of Mayfair is owned by the Queen herself, or the Crown Estate to be
exact. Rents here are among the steepest in London and the world.
Although most property in Mayfair is now commercial there is still a
substantial amount of residential properties on offer. The exclusive
London hotels Claridge’s and The Dorchester are situated here making
Mayfair a popular hang out for high net worth individuals and expat
professionals.
6. 3) W11 NOTTING HILL
Notting Hill is a leafy cosmopolitan area that is home to the
Carnival every summer. The most famous street in Notting Hill is
Portobello road. It is here that Portobello market is held which is
a popular tourist attraction along with the Notting Hill film tour. In
terms of property London estate agents Savills report that two
thirds of their sales in Notting Hill were in the £2,000,000 plus
bracket. Notting Hill’s unique feel away from the bustle of more
central locations make it popular amongst large families.
8. SW7 SOUTH KENSINGTON
My personal favourite area, South Kensington is home to the
French consulate, the Iranian embassy and the Austrian trade
commission. London’s best museums are here namely the
Natural History Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the
Science Museum. With some fantastic Georgian style
townhouses and the southern entrance to Hyde Park it is no
wonder South Kensington is a popular London location. If you’re
looking for a new build in South Ken it will be difficult, most flat
here are high quality conversions.
9. SW3 CHELSEA
Located next to the river Thames, Chelsea is often called the
borough of artists. Oscar Wilde himself had a home on Tite
Street. Chelsea is also home to one of the largest
communities of Americans living outside of the United States.
King’s Road is the most well-known road in Chelsea and it
was named for King Charles II. Filled with both modern and
traditional style houses and apartments SW3 has always
been a popular London location.
11. SW1X KNIGHTSBRIDGE
Knightsbridge is positioned in between well known London
landmarks Hyde Park and St James’. It is also home to Harrods,
one of the most famous luxury shopping centres in the world.
This exclusive area is also where the world record apartment
“Hyde Park One” was sold for £134,000,000. This unique
property sits above the exclusive McLaren and Rolex retail
shops. In 2007 The Times reported that 14 of Britain’s two
hundred most expensive streets were in Knightsbridge.
12. TW10 RICHMOND HILL
Richmond Hill is home to one of the best views in London. In fact the
view is so good that it’s the only view in England that is protected under
UK law. This stunning town located next to the river Thames is a popular
spot for many celebrities and famous musicians. Both Pete Townsend
and Mick Jagger have homes here. International rugby teams have been
known to stay at the Richmond Hill Hotel when they come to compete in
Twickenham stadium. Although Richmond is in zone 4 there is a 18
minute fast train directly to London Waterloo, this makes this leafy suburb
a great place to live for commuters with a family.
13. R IC H MON D H ILL IS KN OW N FOR IT’S
AMAZING PARKS AND VIEWS
14. N2 HAMPSTEAD GARDEN
SUBURB
Hampstead Garden Suburb is home to London’s most exclusive street, the Bishops
Avenue. Often called Billionaires Row, this street houses 66 luxury properties of
varied architectural style. This road is popular with many of the “uber-rich” for good
reason. Ten of the houses are owned by the Saudi Royal family, whilst other owners
of houses on the street include the Sultan of Brunei, Steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal
and Heather Mills (the former wife of Paul McCartney). However, the Guardian
recently produced an article that showed how some of these mansions have been
left vacant for years and subsequently internally they are in bad condition. A certain
level of vacancy is really to be expected when buyers are coming from the Middle
East and Russia, local developers argue that Bishops Avenue is in transition and
new apartments are under construction there.
