Who Who were the first people to believe
Captain James Cook was the first to enter the
Antarctica circle, he was 160 km away from
Antarctica. This happened on his second
major voyage and it took him 3 years.
In 1840 Frenchman Jules-Sébastien-César
Dumont d'Urville became the first person to
set foot on Antarctica. (Some historians
believe that John Davis, an American sealer,
may have set foot on the Antarctic Peninsula
in 1821, but even he was unsure if he landed
on the continent or just a nearby island.)
The four most important Antarctic explorers
were probably Roald Amundsen, Sir Ernest
Shackleton, Robert Falcon Scott, and Richard
E. Byrd.
other explores include Sir James Clark Ross,
Nobu Shirase.
The Greeks. Back then people thought the
world was flat but the Greeks proved it is
round, so the Greeks believed the was
another land on the other side of the world.
There are no land animals that actually live in
Antarctica! But there a many animals in the
surrounding water. There are seals, Penguins
(Emperors and Adelies), fish, sharks, arctic
terns and there are also Orcas which are Killer
whales but live in Antarctica.
Some, like the whales, seals and birds, have a
layer of fat to protect them from the cold.
Penguins and seals have a compact body
shape and thick skin to help keep in their body
heat. Birds have both waterproof feathers and
downy feathers to keep them warm. Many of
the fish have special chemicals in their blood
that keep them from freezing.
1. some people went to Antarctica to go seal
   hunting.
2. There are about 7 types of penguins.
3. If seal doesn't have much food they feed on
the fat they store in there body.
4. A polar bear is a type of bear.
People travel to Antarctica for all sorts of
  reasons, like...
• Scientist go there to discover things.
• Explorers go to Antarctica to explore
• Tourest go to have a look
• Reporters go there to find first hand
  information.
And the list goes on
It takes about About 5 to 9 days days to reach
            Antarctica from Australia.
People get to Antarctica by big and strong ships.
If people go by ship they leave for Antarctica
during November to January the next year,
  while it’s warm in Antarctica.
The fastest root to Antarctica is by
reaching Antarctica from South
America Argentina.
Written and made by Georgette and
Wendy got help from
               The internet
