- 15. 1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not you my workmanship in the Lord? 2 If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

Is it for oxen that God is concerned?10 Does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop.11 If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you?

Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.13 Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? 14 In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel.

- 20. 2 Timothy 4 1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

It is in his business to take his stand separately and deliberately and distinctly, to do what he believes to be right and let the many or the few do as they will - but he is to preach the gospel, even if he doesn't get fed for it!'.

For I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of my ground for boasting.16 For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!17 For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship.18 What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.
- 23. 19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews.To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
- 24. 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

- So pastor’s aren’t sharing the overflow of their own walk, but what they can put together out of duty
- Jesus was despised, abused, homeless, rejected by his family, and eventually murdered......... and he is our model!!!! You KNOW what you are getting yourself into
- Paul is saying....... You KNOW me!!! I’m not doing this for money, I’ve proven my leadership, you know Jesus spoke to me.............. AND if that’s not enough, I led you all to Christ!!! Your church stands because of me, and you show me no respect????
- The Church at Corinth was questioning whether or not to financially support Paul. Right to food, to take along a companion....... why do they expect Paul to be bi-vocational? Equip your soldiers = give them the tools for the job It is natural reap benefit for your labor, why not pastors

- It’s ok to call out those who are wrong....... Paul telling Timothy to step up and care of, and protect the church body You don’t have to pay because of title. Some desire to be in ministry, but haven’t been called. Some have been called, but are in a place they aren’t gifted.
- You can draw a crowd with about anything..... people line up to watch the aftermath of a wreck!!! However the result can be catastophic...... scores of people who have walked a church aisle, but their lives never begin to match one who has surrendered to the God of the Bible. You can’t have the gospel without repentance!!!!!!!

- I give up my right to be paid, because it doesn’t matter. I can’t stop what God is doing through me. His word burns inside me to get out. If I were doing this for money, then it’s about me, not the gospel
- Paul is again unpacking instances in which our freedom must be in check in order to reach the lost. You all have unique hobbies, habits, histories, ....... Use your interests to be diverse in your presence. ME = geek, video games, book worm, remember most of what I read or see, attempted athlete, boy scout, minor outdoorsman, Son and brother of gear heads, almost like coffee, I am a social butterfly, but long for alone time too
- He desires to be above reproach. So that what comes out of his mouth will be matched by life. There always comes a time when you must use words to articulate the gospel. Your life opens the door, then you must fill in the details with all that you have learned/studied/lived
