LANGUAGE ACTIVITY : SPELLING BEE
In order to fulfill the requirement for the task subject ELE 3103, we, Haryati and
Salsabila had searched for the best language activities to be carried out in the class. As
the times seems didn’t enough, we use the period during the relief class to carry out
both these activities. After discussing for some period, we had come out with two
language activitiesthat we think the best among the best which we calledSpelling Bee
Game and Caterpillar Game. For your information, Spelling Bee Game is a game in
which tests the pupils’ listening and speaking skill. This is how the game is carried out.
First and foremost, pupils are divided into three big group and all of them are
required to stand up at their place. . Pupils must compete with other group to raise up
their hand in order to answer. Next, the teacher say a word. E.g. apple. Then, the pupils
raise up their hand fast and the fastest pupils that raise up their hand will have the
chance to answer. Then, the chosen one must say any word in English begin with the
alphabet ‘e’. e.g. elephant. As the pupils are able to answer correctly, they can sit down.
So the games proceeded by teacher saying another word and pupils raising hands to
answer. The first group in which all the members are able to sit down are considered as
the winner.
As the game ended, we discovered some strength and weaknesses and also the
ways to improve the pelaksanaan game in order to ensure that all pupils are able to
participate well.
The strength that we had found is this game consider the participants of all
pupils. All of them must raise up their hand and say a word so that their group are able
to win. Therefore, none of them can escape from not answering. So, by hook or by
crook they will automatically peka to the word said by the teacher and try to brainstorm
the next suitable word.Hence, pupils must have listening skill so well.
Besides, this game test the vocabulary that the pupils. As pupils are not allowed
to help their group members to answer, so the group that win the game is announced as
the winner or the group with the most vocab. This games i
