Horror films and Society ,[object Object],Nosferatu (1922) – society at the time; 70 million people died of influenca. Film about a vampire, all about spreading disease, infection causing death. Zombie Nation (1988) – Society in the late 1960’s in America had loads of protesting, civil rights movement, rioting about Vietnam war and president Nickson being a liar. Film all about thousands of normal people turned into the walking dead by infection and killing the living. Alien (1979) - Society at this time was very big in science fiction, Russia and USA wanting to put people into space, discovering the moon and fear of technology and future. Film about people going into space to find alien creatures that kill people.

Society and Saw ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Saw The film is all about torture, humiliating people and putting people into a situation they cannot get out of. Although the torture at ABU GHRAIB happened and shocked the world, director James Wan had released his film less then a year after and was very successful. A theory of why people would enjoy to watch saw is that the audience are sadistic and enjoy watching pain inflicted on others.
