directed to seniors who have
serious difficulties in
accessing to health services.
It is looking for to improve
their lifestyle (before not
taken in consideration)
through accessing to
recreational spaces and
sports to provide an active
and healthy life.
9. The recreational spaces are called “Sesenta y Piquito
Points”; they are public places (community houses or
the Community Development Centers CDCs) where
they have access to different activities, such as: dance
therapy, special exercises, handicrafts, organic
agriculture, health workshops, among others.
It is important to stand out that
this Project pretends that
seniors life must be lived with
love, care and respect, and at
the same time being productive.
The Sesenta y Piquito Points
have become a place of
encounter for seniors.

•To the person and his/her
family: looking for satisfying
fundamental human needs of
subsistence, protection and affection.
•To the socialization and community
integration: developing
entrepreneurships, active participation
in the society, spare time and creativity.
•To the integral social inclusion:
promoting the identity, freedom, and
also personal and community
importance.
11. For such purpose, different
municipal and state institutions
have organized and articulated
themselves regarding to
provide direct and consolidate
services to seniors and disable
people.
“Concertation intra and inter
institutional”.
The project has also strategic alliances with: Vice-President Bureau, Minister of
Social and Economic Inclusion, Concejo Nacional de Discapacidades (Disable
Affairs Bureau) and several universities.
12. The Project “Sesenta y Piquito” has
established some guiding themes for
the metropolitan intervention with
seniors:
1. Creating Public Policies;
2. Providing well-timed, quality and
gentle services;
3. Promoting rights and building
citizenship of senior people.
4. Restitution of Rights.
The most relevant aspect of this Project is the socio-organizational
