The Texas Long Range Plan for Technology began in 2006 and aims to implement technology standards and resources across the state through 2020. It provides for technology-aligned curriculum, quality digital instructional materials, equitable access to technology for students and teachers, and ongoing professional development for educators. The plan aims to prepare technology-literate students who can collaborate, think critically, and learn effectively using modern digital tools. It also seeks to engage parents and community leaders in technology-rich education. Currently, Texas schools have developing technology use with 5-9 students per computer and minimal individual student use. The goal is target technology integration with student-centered, project-based learning and technology support across the education system.
