1. My product is a brand new female artist called ‘Faith’. The genre of my new artist is Indie rock. The
sub-genre of my artist is folk music. The style of ‘Faith’ Is very important and a key fact to appeal to
one side of my target audience, young females. Faiths cool, unique, vintage rock and roll image
appeals to young woman making her a fashion icon and some what a role model to woman aged
16-25. Faiths style is important to create synergy through different media platforms as Faith is not
just a artist but a brand Faith ’daze’ clothing range. Therefore the promotion package for her new
album has to be fashionable, cool, and edgy just like her clothing range. Links to her clothing range
and online shop must be advertised on her website homepage. The album must compliment and
promote Faith’s clothing range. Faith is a strong female figure with a soft acoustic voice, she has a
current image. The other side of Faith target audience is male, she is a attractive therefore a sex
symbol appealing to men as well as woman. Because my target audience is youthful, the promotion
and advertising of her new album “love is watching someone die ” must be eye catching, and
unique. Inspiring texts for my video comes from current artists like Lana Del Rey-’Ride’ . Other
inspirational videos are Birdys Cover of ‘People help the people’ and folk band Bon Ivers ‘Towers’.
2. My two preliminary tasks, a CD flat pack and a website homepage are going to follow certain
conventions of already existing artists. For my website homepage after researching similar
artists websites I have decided to keep the convention of a three shade colour scheme, this is I
think creates a symbolic style for the artist and doesn’t become to distracting for the
audience. On my website there will be a heavy use of social networking sites to create a larger
fan base. Along with these links I will be advertising ‘Faiths’ clothing range as a subheading
that hyperlinks to her online clothing range. My idea of this was to create a name for my artist
not just as a singer but a marketable product. Similar conventions as seen bellow on
‘Daughters’ homepage I will follow to keep the website layout identifiable to my artist, for
example my mast head will be large, eye catching and at the top of the page this is will allow
the audience to identify the artist straight away. I will include a main image on my webpage
that will be a image of my artist this will also make the homepage identifiable. There will be a
direct video clip of ‘Faiths’ new single to promote the record and again with links to liking the
track on social networking site ‘Facebook’. As a convention I will use web 2.0 to allow fans to
download the track easily and there will be links to ITunes online shop allowing fans to
download the track and get it straight on to mps devises like IPod's and I phones. The website
will cater for a growing demand on the newest technology. Again this will appeal to my
youthful modern target audience.
3. Main text- Music video
I am between two different tracks for my video. Both songs will be told like a story and
I want my video to feature faith with her guitar but also a story of two actors. The
video will be filmed in black and white and will be heavily styled to fit in with the style
of music faith is all about. After analysing similar texts I have decided how important
shot choices and locations are to giving a video different feels and emotions. This I will
take into account in the production of my music video. After much consideration I
have chosen Faiths track called un named.
6. My target audience-
• The key demographic for my artist would be both male and female of a
young again preliminary aged between 16-25. Although my target
audience is niche my artist has the ability appeal to a older audience due
to the type of music and acoustic tracks ‘Faith’ is renowned for. Again
‘Faith’ appeals to both males and females. Her strong image and style
makes her a role model to woman although ‘Faith’ is diverse and still
equally appeals to men as she is a attractive female. I will market and
distribute my artist playing and appealing to the behaviours and
characteristics of my audience. For example the use of social networking
sites, this will reach to the majority of people who use the sites; young
adults. I will advertise ‘Faiths’ new single on music channels that will be
watched by my target audience for example NME and kerrang T.V
channels, reaching a audience with tastes to similar music. I will advertise
‘Faith’ at different times of the day to fit the behaviour patterns of my
target audience for example late on week nights not throughout the day
when the majority of my target audience would be at work, school, college
or university . ‘Faith’ would be advertised in magazines again such as NME,
kerrang and Q.
7. How will I gratify my audience?
• Taking into consideration the uses and gratification theory, what's going to make people fans of ‘Faith’.
• Personal identity
The idea that ‘Faith’ is a role model as well as a artist. Fans appeal to faiths style and persona. This creates a
sense of personal identify for fans to want to be like ‘Faith’. This will mainly apply to females.
• Social interaction
Being a fan of a artist becomes a hobbies and allows fans to become part of a fan base and a community. The
uses of social networking sites will allow fans to join a interest with others who are fans. These sites will allow
fans to be come closer to ‘Faith’ as a person and the forums on ‘Faiths’ official web page will allow fans to
communicate with each other sharing interests.
• Entertainment
My music video will allow escapism to come into practise as fans will find themselves being diverted of there
own problems and be took away into the problems of someone else throughout the videos sense of story
telling.
