2. • Film 1: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
The opening sequence is very dark, and macabre, and
indication of the overall tone of the film and it’s storyline.
The opening sequence was created to be a vision of a
nightmare the main character would have.
At the start of the sequence, it is very unclear what is
going on, several images are shown, all rather ominous and
unclear. It becomes more apparent what these images are
as the opening sequence progresses. This could match the
storyline of the film: a complicated case being solved.
The images shown appear to be symbolic of the
events/ characters in the film.
3. • Film 2: Deathproof (2007)
The opening scene starts with old-fashioned
mock notices, like those seen before watching a
film in the cinema (age rating etc.) This appears in
most of the director's (Tarantino) films.
The opening is also rather light-hearted and
family-friendly compared to the film itself. This
may be viewed as either humorous or slightly
unnerving.
