What is SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence?
BusinessObjects Web Intelligence is a web based tool that allows business users to access and analyze
corporate data from heterogeneous data sources. In order to allow for robust query and analysis options,
Web intelligence grants the ability to directly access the database, opening many possibilities which are a
rarity in most other business intelligence platforms.
Apart from queries and analysis tasks, reporting functionalities are also deeply integrated into
BusinessObjects Web Intelligence – making it “the Swiss army knife” of Business intelligence tooling.

 Web services (regardless of the platform they are run on)
 Advanced analysis workspaces
 SAP HANA databases (high-performance analytical appliance)
 SAP Info Cubes personal data providers
The latter is especially beneficial thanks to the ability to compute in-memory, thus significantly
increasing system performance.
And while the semantic layer is part of the core structures that are in use by BusinessObjects Web
Intelligence, users are also allowed to directly access data sources if need be. This is a humongous
