July August September Early July – 1 st recall from a retailer in Europe Mattel Recall Timeline/Escalation of Media 2 nd  August – 1.500 million recall  due to a lead-based paint problem (91 models) , most of them from Mattel-Fisher line. C ompany alerted the public  ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],After the scope, Mattel had another 83 recall 9 th   August  - China cancelled the export license of 2 of the factories linked to the recalls 14 th   August  - 18 million recall due to a magnet problems (71 models) Mattel then voluntarily expanded the scope of its investigation. 4 th   September  - 848,000 recall toys – high levels of lead-based paint Mattel prepared an apology to China Mattel was critized for placing too much confidence with their relationship with China New test proceedure and tested all toys before released A post of senior vice-president of corporate responsibility was created Time Number of incidents/Press mentions Turnaround Process
