Google Guru Monte Huebsch coined the new term 'Implied Link" in explaining the Hub and Spoke Model for SEO. This describes the use of re-purposed links and original content to maximize exposure for Google’s indexing which includes the usage of NAP (Name, Address, and Phone Number).

2. What happened to
hyperlinking?
• Google is constantly battling people that are trying to
prank their algorithm and their system.
• Smart Stanford PhDs trying to “unprank” it.
- Purchasing links
- Scraping content
- Link farms
- Panda and Penguin Updates
• Everybody considered links as a signal for Google
were gone.
3. Hyperlinking Implied
Link
• The death of the link was exaggerated.
• It has morphed and repurposed.
• It is not gone.
• It is still one of the major signals.
• New term called, “Implied Link.”
4. NAP as the Implied Link
• NAP stands for Name, Address and Phone number.
• Google looks for consistency in the NAP.
• The NAP and the company’s internet presence is
congruent and consistent.
• NAP is representative of a company.
• With NAP, physical link is not necessary.
5. Implied Links beyond NAP
• Google had an attribute called “authorship.”
- Authorship is visible on Google + page.
- The article you write will be indexed .
- Google adds your photo on a Google search.
• The transcription of a name in an interview will be:
- linked to the author
- linked to the company
6. Original Contents
• There are Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that recreates
new content without human intervention.
• Rewritten contents are recognized by Google.
• Videos and audio transcriptions:
- Can be uploaded on a podcast or iTunes.
- Gives original content for Google.
- Have greater credibility for Google.
- Google knows the author.
- They know it’s original.
7. SEO Credibility Issues
• Some ways to do good SEO:
- Follow the Google rules of SEO.
- Create original content.
• Review sites are worried about false reviews, may it be
positive or negative.
• False reviews are contravention of the law.
• To avoid false reviews, one way is to record videos.
• People can see and hear original content.
8. Hub and Spoke Method
• Implied link fits as a “hub and spoke” model.
- Take the original content as the hub.
- Distribute the contents to spokes.
- Google will give it attributes without the physical link.
• Facial recognition as one of Google’s spokes.
- Have not been thought of yet, but will be an excellent
contribution.
