 Controls how fast or slow the shutter speed is
 When the aperture changes so does the depth of field
 The depth of field means how much the shot is in focus

Large aperture opening Small aperture opening

4. Regulating the Aperture Opening
 The aperture opening is
also known as an “F Stop”
 A small F stop number= a
large opening and more
light
 A large F stop number= a
small opening and less
light
 Common F stop numbers
include: 1.4, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8,
11 , 16, 22, and 32

speed are already set by
the camera
 You can adjust the
settings by shifting the
control dial


Use when you want everything in your picture to
be in focus

