Also  started  up  “technological  monitoring”  keeping  my  team  and  myself  up-‐to-‐date  on  new  technology  to   try  exploiting  it  for  the  construction  of  eHealth  systems.   Coordinator  of  the  New  Research  Centre  Project  (2005-‐2007)  –  guided  the  local  project  team  for  the   construction  of  the  new  Research  Centre,  coordinating  the  engineers  and  architects  involved  in  the   implementation  of  the  technical  specifications  of  our  users. The  role  focused  on  gathering  user  requisites  and  transferring  them  to  engineers  and  staff  for  the  creation   of  the  New  Centre.  Also  in  charge  of  managing  tenders  for  all  Centre  needs,  from  office  fittings  and   technical  equipment,  canteen  facilities  and  any  other  requirements  of  a  modern  pharmaceutical  Research   Centre,  supported  by  other  company  departments  such  as  Procurement  and  the  Legal  Department. Scientific  Information  Systems  Manager  (SIS)  (1998-‐2004)  –  Leading  a  team  of  two  technicians  and  one   assistant  for  the  design  and  management  of  computer  and  information  systems  of  the  Research  Centre.   Handling  both  infrastructures  (LAN,  Server,  computing  security)  and  answering  user  needs,  choosing  and   implementing  systems  in  a  range  of  different  areas:  from  data  acquisition  in  laboratories  to  corporate  asset   management;  to  systems  for  workforce  safety  to  plant  management.  Implemented  the  company  LAN,   assuring  computing  security  compliance  with  high  level  of  availability  to  guarantee  the  use  of  24-‐hour   systems.  In  charge  of  the  operation  of  about  150  work  stations,  including  about  80  data  acquisition  systems   in  the  chemical  and  pharmacological  laboratories  for  data  acquisition,  instruments  demanding  24-‐hour   guaranteed  operation  over  several  days  with  the  risk  of  losing  high-‐cost  experiments. Applied  pharmaceutical  company  standard  quality  methods  at  work,  implementing  GLP  methods  on  site  as   issued  by  the  FDA. Main  achievements:   • Risk  management  system  for  tracking  the  use  of  hazardous  substances  (M.A.R.S.  -‐  Management  Archiving   Risk  &  Safety)  for  control  of  research  staff  use  of  hazardous  substances  used  for  normal  experiments,   notifying  both  research  staff  and  managers  and  the  factory  doctor  whenever  the  amount  used  exceeded  the   given  quantity  for  the  month  and  the  year.  The  system  is  interfaced  with  precision  scales  located  in  each   laboratory  and  acts  as  warehouse  management  linked  to  the  procurement  system. • Security  management  system  for  OHSAS  18001  purposes  (Mi.Ri.Ma.  -‐  Milan  Risk  Management)  for   compliance  with  the  requisites  of  standard  OHSAS  18001  for  management  of  workforce  safety  and
  • 2. management  of  all  workforce  safety-‐related  issues  classifying  risks  and  consequently  associating  PPE,   organising  obligatory  training  courses,  notifying  staff  by  mail  and  agenda  and  managing  any  non   conformities  occurring  in  the  company. • Automatic  building  management  system  (BMS)  based  on  SIEMENS  and  Phoenix  technology  (MS  SQL):  this   enables  monitoring  and  control  of  all  HVAC  aspects,  Fire  Prevention,  building  lighting,  triggering  an  alarm  in   case  of  malfunction  and  managing  the  room  temperature  based  on  the  outside  temperature. • Maintenance  management  system  for  plant  equipment  and  scientific  instruments  based  on  the  COSWIN   system  and  interfacing  with  the  ORACLE  DMBS:  provides  prompt  notification  of  routine  maintenance,  keeping   workflows  under  control  and  collecting  plant  and  equipment  malfunction  by  users  for  optimum  management. • Project  for  introduction  of  the  Electronic  Notebook  system  in  chemical  laboratories  to  bring  department  users   to  use  a  totally  computerised  instrument  on  their  desktop  that  guarantees  intellectual  protection  and   international  collaboration  on  projects.  System  based  on  SW  by  CambridgeSoft,  world  leader  in  this  field.   Presentation  of  the  project  to  the  User  Meeting  of  CambridgeSoft  in  Italy  in  May  2011. • Tablet  based  system  to  take  the  electronic  notebook  inside  laboratories  integrated  with  photo-‐acquisition  of   TLC  platelets  (Thick  Layer  Chromatography). • 2010,  speaker  in  the  international  conference  on  "Designing  quality,  efficiency  and  sustainability  into   pharmaceutical  processes”  as  a  result  of  extensive  experience  in  plant  construction.  Paper  entitled:  Energy   saving  in  the  pharmaceutical  industry:  a  case  study  at  Sanofi  Midy  Research  Center.
