5. The Urinary System
The urinary system is composed of:
 Two Lt. and Rt. Kidneys.{ which excrete
the urine}
 Two Lt. and Rt. Ureters. { which convey
the urine to the urinary bladder}
 One Urinary Bladder. {in which the urine is
collected to discharge to the exterior at
intervals}
 One Urethra. { through which the urine is
discharge to the exterior in the act of
micturation}

9. Indications for imaging
- Suspected urinary tract pathology.
- Repeated urinary tract infections
- Heamaturia.
- Investigation of hypertension not controlled by medication in young adults.
- Renal colic.
- Trauma.

10. Patients Preparation
- Basic abdominal preparation, aperients taken for 24 hours previous,
to clear faecal residue.
- Nil by mouth for 4-6 hours before the examination.

11. Contrast Media
Urographin or Omnipaque

12. Route of contrast media administration is through:
Intravenous Route = IV

13. Amount of contrast media is about: 40 cc
