1. TITLE – “THE DEPART- ED” is written with
conjunction of the three actors. The fact
that the text is large and dominates
majority of the poster shows us the three
actors play a major role within the film.
Facial expressions of the two actors with no
direct mode of address demonstrates the
movie has action in it.
As this genre of film is Crime/Mystery, we
can see evidently the connotations within
this poster has praised the genre
excellently.
For example, “COPS OR CRIMINALS...
OCTOBER 06” are written in red
subsequently to connote danger, envy and
blackmail. It also stands out from the actors
names “LEONARDO DiCAPRIO” to show the
writing is more important than the actors.
The Credits is another feature of the poster
in small narrow text to show their
unimportance compared to the title THE
DEPARTED above the credits.

are all famous for their successful careers
as actors in such films as The Shining (Jack

The combination of them together in one
film informs fans the success of this film
will be high. Also, there will be more
people eager to see it as professional

been portrayed linking to the “Cops or
Criminals” as in Cops in white and Red as
in criminals. It is created for a clear
emphasis and understanding to the
poster.
