2. Actionism The term Actionism describes a short and violent movement in the 20th century art that can be regarded as part of the many independent efforts of the 1960’s to develop “action art.” The movement can be more or less divided into two groups: Action and Painting, typified by artists such as Pollock, de Koonig, frank Kline, and Philip Guston, stressed the physical action involved in painting.
