Internationally recognized expert to speak at Grant
MacEwan
A firm believer in the adage “less is more,” Toronto-based consultant and
speaker Bernard Aschwanden brings his Minimalist Documentation
creation philosophy to Grant MacEwan University, downtown campus,
on June 2 at 7 p.m.
"Albertans are fortunate to have the chance to hear someone of Mr.
Aschwanden’s caliber speak. Not only is he a recognized expert in
publishing technologies, but he has a diverse background from which he
can draw on," said Jessie Channey, President of the Alberta Chapter of the
Society for Technical Communication.
Aschwanden will speak on the need for technical communicators to reduce
the volume and complexity of their technical documentation. He’ll also
address the best practices necessary to develop, produce and maintain that
content.
Aschwanden is a recognized publishing technologies expert and the author
of numerous articles on XML-based publishing and single sourcing. He is
the founder and President of Publishing Smarter.
In addition to his publishing background and speaking tours, Mr.
Aschwanden teaches a variety of technical writing courses. He also works
with clients to convert legacy content, analyze documentation, review
workflows, and identify best practices in technical communications.
Aschwanden is a senior member of the Society for Technical
Communication (STC) and the immediate past President of the Toronto
STC. He is a professor in the continuing education Technical
Communications program with Seneca@York, on the advisory board for
the Humber College Technical Communications program, and remains
active in the STC delivering in-person seminars, and online webinars, to
members around the world. He has helped hundreds of companies
implement successful publishing solutions.
