1. HUNGARY 2010
WE KICKED OFF THE COMENIUS EXPERIENCE WITH THIS TRIP. EVERYTHING WAS NEW
TO US; IT WAS THE FIRST CONTACT WITH TEACHERS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES AND
NOT KNOWING EACH OTHER MADE US FEEL UNEASY. HOWEVER, WE WERE VERY
EXCITED AND MOTIVATED.
THE TRIP DIDN’T DISAPPOINT. FROM THE MOMENT WE ARRIVED WE FELT GENUINELY
WELCOMED, A FEELING THAT ACCOMPANIED US EVERY DAY.
EGÉSZSÉGÉRE! A WORD UNKNOWN TO US AND DIFFICULT TO PRONOUNCE BUT
NEXT TO A GLASS OF PALINKA AND WITH GOOD COMPANY IT CREATED A WARM
ATMOSPHERE.
WE LEARNED LOTS OF THINGS ABOUT THE CULTURE, TRADITIONS AND FOLKLORE IN
HUNGARY AND WE ENJOYED THEM DANCING AND PRACTICING OUR MARKSMANSHIP
WITH THE BOW AND ARROW.
2. We were lucky to be there for the feast of St. Martin as it allowed us to
discover its history and how it is currently celebrated. We visited many
places of his route across the country:
The Church of St. Martin and the cathedral in Szombathely, Vámoscsalád
and Pannonhalma.
3. As teachers, what we wanted to learn the most about was the school and the
educational work being performed there and we really enjoyed being a part of
singing songs in music class, craftworks and English classes.
4. Some curiosities that caught our attention were the musical breaks
between classes, the change of shoes to enter the classroom, the
Hungarian alphabet, the silence and respect in the canteen or the flexible
schedule depending on age and environment.
Finally let’s not forget the food: goulash, hot fruit soup, twin croissants,
paprika, strudel...
It was a peaceful and unforgettable experience for us as teachers as well
as individuals.
