   Measuring Creativity
             me2 provides a score for your General Factor of Creativity.        It gives an indication of the

             weights each of the different factors of me2

   Measuring Creativity
             The incubation factor refers to the extent a person will spend time on the non-conscious
             processing of ideas. When you allow an idea to be incubated over a period of time, your brain,
             even if you are not aware of it, is continuing to solve the problem. Ideas are combined and
             recombined until a workable solution is found. This form of problem solving can be far more
             powerful than your conscious efforts and can take place while you sleep.

             You see yourself as someone who has an extreme preference for spending a long time
             incubating a problem rather than coming to a rapid conclusion. This tendency to delay judgement

   Measuring Creativity
             Illumination is the experience of sudden moments of insight. It can occur when you least
             expect it and rarely when you are actively thinking about the problem. An important part of the
             creative thinking process is the capacity to be open to and to register these sudden breakthrough
             insights. All ideas have the potential to lead to innovation and should be captured whenever they
             appear. This is not the time for critical evaluation.

             Many Nobel Prize winners have had their ideas when they least expected. Our tendency to
             experience illuminative moments when falling asleep, lying in the bath or travelling is so marked

             studies. The most famous example of illumination is the story of Archimedes, suddenly realising

             through the streets of ancient Syracuse.

             important for your creative process.

             Intrinsic motivation is your tendency to be motivated by internal stimuli and drives;; to act
             due to a sense of joy or challenge that comes from within. It is related to the things that you enjoy
             doing. In terms of work, an indicator of an intrinsic motive is when you are happy to do a task
             without thought of reward, or when you do not notice how long you have been working on it.

             One of the most visible characteristics of people with a high creative output is that they often act
             without interest in reward, fame, money or success. Most of the greatest artists lived a basic
             lifestyle without any trappings of success. Van Gogh sold only one painting in his lifetime and
             that was to his brother. Inventors toil for long, lonely hours with endless prototypes. The drive for
             them to rise early and work late is usually their inner reserves of intrinsic motivation and not the

   Measuring Creativity

             initial ideas. Creative output is increased dramatically when people are open and prepared to
             share ideas. The collective life experience of a group is many times more than that of any one
             individual, dramatically enhancing the stimuli for ideas. Every idea shared is a potential catalyst
             for another suggestion as connections are made. This process is known as the Creative Multiplier.

             The nature of the creative process often means that people can be reluctant to share early ideas
             to avoid looking foolish. The idea may destroy a belief, approach or process that someone else
             strongly supports. Early ideas often do not make sense but creativity depends on people being
             open and prepared to share their ideas.
