10. ARTS AND CULTURE
Miraflores is Lima’s center
of the Arts.
We’re always promoting
expositions, interventions as
“Music in your park”, poetry,
and hosting places for people
to express through the arts.
11. ARTS AND CULTURE
Miraflores hosts most of
the bookstores, theaters,
galleries and coffee shops
in Lima.
Even a Book Fair takes
place once a year in our
main park!
12. LITERATURE
“Peru is for me (…) the corner of
Diego Ferré and Colón, in Lima’s
Miraflores —we called it the
Happy Neighborhood— where I
exchanged short pants for long
trousers, smoked my first
cigarette, learned to dance, fall in
love, and open my heart to girls”.
Mario Vargas Llosa
Nobel Prize in Literature 2010,
Acceptance Speech
13. SPORTS
We have many places to practice
sports, for youngs and elders too.
Parasailing, skate boarding and surf
are some of the activities practiced
here.
14. HISTORY
The Huaca Pucllana, a great adobe
and clay pyramid located in
Miraflores, served as an important
ceremonial and administrative center
for the advancement of the Lima
Culture, a society which developed in
the Peruvian Central Coast between
the years of 200 AD and 700 AD.
15. HISTORY
The Battle of Miraflores occured on January 15, 1881 in our
district. It was an important battle during the War of the
Pacific that was fought between Chile and the forces of Peru.
Although, the chilean forces finally invaded Lima, mirafloreans
battled with courage defending the city.
