He left us too soon in 2008 .
3. Éval Manigat introduced carribean and
latin funk to the musical community of
Montreal. He was the co-founder and
musical assistant of two of the most
famous haitian ensembles, Tropicana
and Weber Sicot. He especially loved to
write for brass sections . Eval Manigat
was our Quincy Jones. His bass playing
had the groove that makes one dance
and feel alive.

5. Karen Young, great singer and one of
Eval’s most admired collaborator was there

7. Eval went back to Haïti in 2006 to start a school
where an international musical language could
be taught, like the one he had developped
during the 40 years of his musical career. His
principal goal was to train a future generation
of musicians and music teachers.
Our sincere desire today is to achieve this
wonderful project.
