Inspiration From The Little Baby
What I am going to share with you today has nothing to do with any affiliate marketing tip or online
business. I am writing this in conjunction to Father’s Day as how my little boy has inspired my day.
Also because I read the post from Dave Kerpen. By the way, stay until the end for a story that I
personally think is inspirational and urge you to look at the way you make money in a different
way...
Guts
For your information, my baby boy is 9 months old now. He is in the stage of learning to stand and
grabbing anything he can see. You can imagine the tough situation working with him around. As the
moment I am writing this, he is having his hand on my screen and keyboard.
What I admire him at this age is that despite the countless time I told to stay away and try to be
stern with him, he still able to come and disturb me. He sure has some guts to disobey his old man.
To be frank, I remember I too use to be fearless and went all out to do whatever I want.
But as I grew into adult and gain more experience in the society, fear has engulfed the fearless. I
became a person who is concern about how others look at me.
When I started my first affiliate marketing business, many told me to be real (especially my mother)
and stay in the job that I don’t see a future with. I guess I have been carrying that disapproval within
me and somehow self-sabotaj my business which mean to say that my first encounter with affiliate
marketing was a failure and accumulated quite a hefty debt.
This time around, I am in the business for second try because I know there is much money to be
make with affiliate marketing and with the baby around, I want to inspire him to go after his dream
when he grows up.
I can only do that if I walk my talk...
Oh yeah.
Because the little boy is in his trying to stand age, he often let go and free fall to the back. When he
does that, he often shuts his eyes tight as if getting ready for impact. Of course he cries after he
knock the floor but after we pick him up and console him, he will go for another try.
How gutsy of him.
How I wish I saw this earlier in my life and probably I won’t self-sabotaj myself.
Exploration
My mother in law house has a utility room which she kept the light off most of the time. When we
are there, the little boy always stands outside (in his walker) the dark room and gaze into it. As if
something is calling him in and he was thinking to go inside or not.

For Asian, we will usually tell the little baby there are monsters inside and he should stay away. But I
am a little bit different. I always believe that babies should explore their world as long as the adults
are there to supervise and make sure there is no life threatening danger looming around.
Afterall , you will stop exploring as you grow up while listening to too many adults.
That’s why I always stand there and see how he responds to the dark room. Almost everytime I see
him inch into the room and then back out. Until one day he was laughing and charge into the room
waving his hand wildly.
That was the day he made a new life voyage.
However, this exploration spirit in many of us deem into the dark room when we grow older.
Because of some personal reasons and social pressure, we tend to be active around the area that we
THINK is safe.
Exploration suddenly seems dangerous and risky.
It seems to be a word that belongs to the big boys with deep wallet.
But if you want be successful in life whether in your business or as a person, you got to keep the
exploring spirit up. I know at time you will fail and get laugh at. But you don’t get you want to be if
you don’t fail and learn something.
There is no monster in the dark room. The only monster is projected by us. If you want a new
experience, you got to take action.
That’s what the baby inspired me of.
Being Happy
Again, this seems to be missing in many people life.
I used to miss it when I was working for others. It is not that I don’t like working with others. It is the
pain and anger to see that my dream is dying bit by bit everyday and I can’t do anything about it. All
because I was fearful to what is going to happen if I were to quit my job and have fail my business.
Again, I was setting my first affiliate marketing business failure when I had that thought and being
discouraged by people I hold dear of.
But that aside, it is important to be happy or optimistic in what you are doing.
Just as I see in my baby boy, he is always happy, smiling and laughing. 
He can immediately smile back even he knock on the floor (after we console him), got scolded for
misbehaving and when he is not feeling well.
I can hear that some of you will argue that as a baby and still naive to the world “pollution”, of
course he is always happy and laughing. Wait until he grows up and go face the world. Let’s see how
happy he can still be.

I do have to agree to that.
Then again, it is always up to you to how you perceive your current situation.
And that’s what I am going to teach the boy when he grows up.
“Never to lose faith and always be optimistic to what you are doing.”
Just to share with you, John Paul Mitchell started his hair product empire with just USD700. He was
the one who can’t afford color and instead print black on white bottle which has become the brand.
Besides confident with his product, he has to be optimistic with his decision.
By the way and as promised, I want to leave you with the following story I found online.
A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at
the door.
"Daddy, may I ask you a question?"
"Yeah sure, what is it?" replied the man.
"Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"
"That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?" the man said angrily.
"I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" pleaded the little boy.
"If you must know, I make $20 an hour."
(I believe the father is working hard at his job. But with only $20 an hour? He should deserve better
with the effort he puts in. Does that sound like you? You might want to make some positive changes
in how you make your living.)
"Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down. Looking up, he said, "Daddy, may I please borrow
$10?"
The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a
silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed.
Think about why you are so selfish. I work long hard hours everyday and don't have time for such
this childish behaviour."
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even
angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think: He may have been a little
hard on his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10 and he really
didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the
door.
"Are you asleep, son?" He asked.

"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.
"I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier," said the man.
"It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $10 you asked for."
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. "Oh, thank you daddy!" He yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man, seeing that the boy
already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then
looked up at his father.
"Why do you want more money if you already have some?" the father grumbled.
"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.
"Daddy, I have $20 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would
like to have dinner with you."
I am not sure about you but I used to work 45 hours a week. If you put in the time I need to travel to
and back of work, I think I spent around 60 hours a week working for others. Just to bring home the
dough.
Now, with the technology of this era, stop saying that you have no choice.
Get inspired and get moving.
