This document discusses applying SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System) to transfer the Chinese Classified Thesaurus (CCT), a traditional thesaurus, into a networked knowledge organization system. It reviews SKOS and examines challenges in applying it to CCT, including representing classification systems, alternative notations, and concepts from mapped vocabularies. It suggests treating CCT as a new vocabulary with each entry as an independent concept described using SKOS properties. Future directions include making vocabularies machine-processable and sharing them through web services.
