It’s co-hosted by MIA and the A&FRC. It will be held on the first
Wednesday of every month. Local Japanese will introduce
Japanese traditional events and culture to the attendees. Enjoy JAPANESE/AMERICAN
socializing with local Japanese in a cozy atmosphere. Children FRIENDSHIP CLUB
are welcome. This club was organized in 1980 with the purpose for Americans
and Japanese to learn each other’s language, culture and way of
life through exchange activities. Presently the club has about
50 American and Japanese members. Club members, their
families and friends go on ski trips, visit the Hirosaki Cherry
Blossom Festival, hike, enjoy fireworks at Lake Towada,
help Japan Day and American Day events, participate in
the Misawa Festival and conduct volunteer services, such
as visiting old folks’ homes and facilities for handicapped
children, as well as assisting with the Red Feather Charity
program. The club holds “Japanese and English Speaking
Circle” every Friday.
