The Apple Watch is a
smartwatch created by Apple
Inc., announced by Tim Cook
on September 9, 2014. It has
activity tracking capabilities
similar to other wearable
technologies, such as Jawbone
Up, Nike+ FuelBand and
samsung,sony,moto.
Timothy Donald "Tim" Cook CEO of Apple Inc.
features
We all share the same hours, minutes, and seconds. But what happens
during that time is different for everyone. So Apple Watch doesn’t just keep
accurate time. It allows you to see time in the ways that are most meaningful
— and useful — to you.
Working with iPhone, Apple Watch continually checks against the
definitive global time standard with the same precision found in GPS
satellites. If you move from one time zone to another, Apple Watch
automatically adjusts. When daylight saving time begins, Apple Watch
simply changes to the new time. So you never once have to set it yourself
stay closer to the people you care about by
Messages, calls, and Mail. tailored for
your wrist.
Apple Watch adds a new dimension to the way you communicate. In just a
glance it shows you who’s contacting you. It even gets your attention the way
another person would — by tapping you. There are subtle audio cues, too.
Messages:-
Sending and receiving messages is easy with
Apple Watch. You can dictate a message or
select from preset options — Apple Watch
will make suggestions based on the things
you write most. Or you can skip words
altogether by sharing one of our new
animated emojis.
Phone.
Use the built-in speaker and microphone
for quick chats, or seamlessly transfer calls
to your iPhone for longer conversations.
You can also transfer calls from
Apple Watch to your car’s speakerphone
or your Bluetooth headset. And silence
incoming calls by covering Apple Watch
with your hand.
Mail.
When you get mail, Apple Watch alerts
you right away. You can read the message,
then flag it, mark it as read or unread, or
move it to the Trash. Or open the message
on your iPhone, where you can type a
lengthier response.
Start an entirely new kind of conversation.
You don’t even have to use
words. The Digital Touch
features on Apple Watch give
you fun, spontaneous ways to
connect with other Apple Watch
wearers, wrist to wrist. Use your
finger to draw something
quickly. Your friend on the
other end can watch your
drawing animate, then respond
with a custom creation for you.
Heartbeat.
When you press two fingers on the
screen, the built-in heart rate sensor
records and sends your heartbeat. It’s a
simple and intimate way to tell
someone how you feel.
Activity App There’s more than one way to
look at fitness
Apple Watch unites the capabilities of an
all-day fitness tracker and a highly
advanced sports watch in one device you
can wear all the time. It can track a wider
variety of activities because it’s able to
collect more types of data. It uses an
accelerometer to measure your total body
movement.
It has a custom sensor that can
measure intensity by tracking your
heart rate. And it uses the GPS and
Wi Fi in ‑ your iPhone to track how
far you’ve moved.
Track your progress over time
on iPhone.
Apple Watch lets you see your daily
activity at a glance. To see your
progress and periods of time, there’s
Fitness — an Apple Watch
companion app on your iPhone. You
can view your activity history,
workouts, and achievements by the
day, the week, and the month. There’s
also a Health app on iPhone that
allows you to share your activity and
workout data with your health and
fitness apps.
A fast, easy, secure way to pay.
Passbook on Apple Watch not only keeps your tickets,
boarding passes, and loyalty cards together in one
instantly accessible place, it also lets you securely use
your credit and debit cards. It’s secure because your
actual card numbers are never shared with merchants
or transmitted with payment. Instead, Apple Watch
creates a Device Account Number for each card.
When you make a purchase, this number is used to
process your payment, along with a transaction-specific
dynamic security code. To pay with
Apple Watch, just double-click the button next to the
Digital Crown and hold your wrist up to the
contactless reader. You’ll hear and feel a confirmation
from Apple Watch once your payment information
is sent.
A whole new era for apps.
Apple Watch isn’t just a different location for your favorite apps. It’s an entirely
different way to experience them. A time-saving feature called Glances condenses the
most relevant information from each app into a form you can easily scan on the fly.
And because Apple Watch can tap you on the wrist, you’ll be aware of
notifications instantly.
Start on Apple Watch. Continue on iPhone.
Apple Watch is perfect for quick
interactions, but if you need to do
something more involved, just pick
up your iPhone. The message you
were reading or app you were using
on Apple Watch will be open and
ready to go. Read new mail on
Apple Watch, then respond on
iPhone. See a sports score or news
update on Apple Watch, and read
more about it on iPhone.
DESIGN
There’s an Apple Watch for everyone.
Two different-sized starting points.
Custom alloys engineered for beauty and durability.
Bands as thoughtfully designed as the watch itself.
Find your style in three distinctive collections.
There are so many ways to make Apple Watch your own. To help
you choose the expression that suits you best, we’ve curated three
collections of cases and bands that we feel work particularly
well together.
TECHNOLOGY
Digital Crown. A modern twiston a traditional feature.
Every new product we’ve introduced has
been defined by a unique input device. With
Apple Watch, it’s the Digital Crown.
On mechanical watches, the crown has
historically been used to set the time and
date and to wind the mainspring.
We reimagined it as a versatile tool that
answers the fundamental challenge of how
to magnify content on a small display.
Pinching to zoom, as you do on iPhone, is
impractical. But rotating the Digital Crown
allows you to zoom and scroll nimbly and
precisely, without obstructing your view.
You can also push it like a button to return
to the Home screen, making it an integral
part of the Apple Watch experience.
Not just a display
A Retina display is the primary surface for
every interaction with Apple Watch. And it’s
clear why. The incredibly high pixel density
makes numbers and text easy to read at a
glance, even while you’re moving. Images and
graphics render with remarkable sharpness and
contrast, including finely detailed ones like the
rotation of a hair-thin second hand on a watch
face. And the display is extremely energy
efficient, critical for a device you wear
throughout the day. On most Apple Watch
models, the display is laminated to a machined
and polished single crystal of sapphire. Next to
diamond, it’s the hardest transparent material.
On watches in the Sport collection, protection is
provided by strengthened Ion-X glass.
Sensitive enough to tell a tap from a press
In addition to recognizing touch, Apple Watch senses force, adding a new dimension to
the user interface. Force Touch uses tiny electrodes around the flexible Retina display
to distinguish between a light tap and a deep press, and trigger instant access to a range
of contextually specific controls
Siri
Having Siri with you at all times means you can access it that much more
quickly and conveniently. And be even more spontaneous with your
requests. Simply raise your wrist and say “Hey, Siri,” or press and hold
the Digital Crown to dictate messages, get turn-by-turn directions, or stay
up to date on your events. You’ll get an instant response to your query.
We found a way to give technology a more human touch.
Literally.
It’s called the Taptic Engine, a linear actuator inside Apple Watch that produces haptic
feedback. In less technical terms, it taps you on the wrist. Whenever you receive an
alert or notification, or perform a function like turning the Digital Crown or pressing
down on the display, you feel a tactile sensation that’s recognizably different for each
kind of interaction. Combined with subtle audio cues from the specially engineered
speaker driver, the Taptic Engine creates a discreet, sophisticated, and nuanced
experience by engaging more of your senses. It also enables some entirely new,
intimate ways for you to communicate with other Apple Watch wearers. You can get
someone’s attention with a gentle tap. Or even send something as personal as
your heartbeat.
With a custom heart rate sensor, it’s built to know you
better
The wrist is a convenient area for collecting
data about your physical activity, a task
Apple Watch is designed to perform
throughout the day. On the back of the case,
a ceramic cover with sapphire
lenses1 protects a specially designed sensor
that uses infrared and visible-light LEDs and
photodiodes to detect your heart rate.
Apple Watch uses this sensor, along with an
accelerometer and the GPS and Wi‑Fi in
your iPhone, to measure all kinds of physical
movement, from simply standing up to
actively working out. This allows
Apple Watch to provide a comprehensive
picture of your daily activity, suggest
customized goals, and reward you for
reaching personal fitness milestones.
An entire computer architecture on a single chip.
Massive constraints have a way of
inspiring interesting, creative solutions. A
prime example is the custom-designed chip
at the heart of Apple Watch. No traditional
computer architecture could fit within such
a confined space. So we found a way to
integrate many subsystems into one
remarkably compact module, which is then
completely encapsulated in resin to protect
the electronics from the elements, impact,
and wear. Configuring an entire computer
system on a single chip is an industry first
and represents a singular feat of
engineering and miniaturization.
When it came to charging, we kept it simple.
As familiar as wearing a watch is,
charging one is something new. So we
decided to make it utterly effortless. In
fact, our goal was to make Apple Watch
easy to charge in the dark. Without
looking. While being only partially
awake. We arrived at a solution
that combines our MagSafe technology
with inductive charging. It’s a
completely sealed system free of
exposed contacts. And it’s very
forgiving, requiring no precise
alignment. You simply hold the
connector near the back of the watch,
where magnets cause it to snap into
place automatically.

  • 16. DESIGN There’s an Apple Watch for everyone. Two different-sized starting points.
  • 17. Custom alloys engineered for beauty and durability.
  • 18. Bands as thoughtfully designed as the watch itself.
  • 19. Find your style in three distinctive collections. There are so many ways to make Apple Watch your own. To help you choose the expression that suits you best, we’ve curated three collections of cases and bands that we feel work particularly well together.
  • 20. TECHNOLOGY Digital Crown. A modern twiston a traditional feature. Every new product we’ve introduced has been defined by a unique input device. With Apple Watch, it’s the Digital Crown. On mechanical watches, the crown has historically been used to set the time and date and to wind the mainspring. We reimagined it as a versatile tool that answers the fundamental challenge of how to magnify content on a small display. Pinching to zoom, as you do on iPhone, is impractical. But rotating the Digital Crown allows you to zoom and scroll nimbly and precisely, without obstructing your view. You can also push it like a button to return to the Home screen, making it an integral part of the Apple Watch experience.
  • 21. Not just a display A Retina display is the primary surface for every interaction with Apple Watch. And it’s clear why. The incredibly high pixel density makes numbers and text easy to read at a glance, even while you’re moving. Images and graphics render with remarkable sharpness and contrast, including finely detailed ones like the rotation of a hair-thin second hand on a watch face. And the display is extremely energy efficient, critical for a device you wear throughout the day. On most Apple Watch models, the display is laminated to a machined and polished single crystal of sapphire. Next to diamond, it’s the hardest transparent material. On watches in the Sport collection, protection is provided by strengthened Ion-X glass.
  • 22. Sensitive enough to tell a tap from a press In addition to recognizing touch, Apple Watch senses force, adding a new dimension to the user interface. Force Touch uses tiny electrodes around the flexible Retina display to distinguish between a light tap and a deep press, and trigger instant access to a range of contextually specific controls
  • 23. Siri Having Siri with you at all times means you can access it that much more quickly and conveniently. And be even more spontaneous with your requests. Simply raise your wrist and say “Hey, Siri,” or press and hold the Digital Crown to dictate messages, get turn-by-turn directions, or stay up to date on your events. You’ll get an instant response to your query.
  • 24. We found a way to give technology a more human touch. Literally. It’s called the Taptic Engine, a linear actuator inside Apple Watch that produces haptic feedback. In less technical terms, it taps you on the wrist. Whenever you receive an alert or notification, or perform a function like turning the Digital Crown or pressing down on the display, you feel a tactile sensation that’s recognizably different for each kind of interaction. Combined with subtle audio cues from the specially engineered speaker driver, the Taptic Engine creates a discreet, sophisticated, and nuanced experience by engaging more of your senses. It also enables some entirely new, intimate ways for you to communicate with other Apple Watch wearers. You can get someone’s attention with a gentle tap. Or even send something as personal as your heartbeat.
  • 25. With a custom heart rate sensor, it’s built to know you better The wrist is a convenient area for collecting data about your physical activity, a task Apple Watch is designed to perform throughout the day. On the back of the case, a ceramic cover with sapphire lenses1 protects a specially designed sensor that uses infrared and visible-light LEDs and photodiodes to detect your heart rate. Apple Watch uses this sensor, along with an accelerometer and the GPS and Wi‑Fi in your iPhone, to measure all kinds of physical movement, from simply standing up to actively working out. This allows Apple Watch to provide a comprehensive picture of your daily activity, suggest customized goals, and reward you for reaching personal fitness milestones.
  • 26. An entire computer architecture on a single chip. Massive constraints have a way of inspiring interesting, creative solutions. A prime example is the custom-designed chip at the heart of Apple Watch. No traditional computer architecture could fit within such a confined space. So we found a way to integrate many subsystems into one remarkably compact module, which is then completely encapsulated in resin to protect the electronics from the elements, impact, and wear. Configuring an entire computer system on a single chip is an industry first and represents a singular feat of engineering and miniaturization.
  • 27. When it came to charging, we kept it simple. As familiar as wearing a watch is, charging one is something new. So we decided to make it utterly effortless. In fact, our goal was to make Apple Watch easy to charge in the dark. Without looking. While being only partially awake. We arrived at a solution that combines our MagSafe technology with inductive charging. It’s a completely sealed system free of exposed contacts. And it’s very forgiving, requiring no precise alignment. You simply hold the connector near the back of the watch, where magnets cause it to snap into place automatically.
