A Digital Tale<br />Analyze Learners<br />General Characteristics: <br />These are fourth grade students in a language arts class between the ages of 9 and 10 years old. The student’s socioeconomic status is from middle class families. This a diverse class with a cultural make up of Chamorro, Caucasian, Korean, Filipino. The class is composed of 16 students with 9 girls and 7 boys. One student is a student with an auditory impairment.<br />Entry Competencies:<br />Students were taught the basic elements of writing a story. In this lesson, the students have received prior instruction and have working knowledge in: using Microsoft Office word, keyboarding, digital camera and guided tutorial in Roxio.<br />Learning Style:<br />The students are very motivated and actively participate in class. They can work independently. They are mainly composed of kinesthetic and visual learners with a few them being audio learners.  Majority of the students can work independently with only 2 or 3 need additional help. <br />State Objectives:<br />Students will be able to: <br />Compose a brief story that is at least two paragraph long and based on a given theme<br />Accurately use a digital camera to take pictures to be used for their story<br />Create a photo story on http://www.voicethread.com <br />Present their digital story in front of the class<br />Select Methods, Media, Materials<br />Method<br />    Students will be divided into groups of four. Each group will be given a theme to base their story on.<br />Media<br />,[object Object]

Preview materials<br />      Ensure that the voice thread website is working and materials (computer, speakers, and projector) are safely working and available to use. <br />2.      Prepare materials<br />      The teacher should prepare all materials ahead of time for the students to use and be sure that all media are working properly. <br />3.  Prepare environment<br /> Ensure that all students can see the computer from where they are seated.<br /> Ensure the room is safe for the students to be in such as lighting, wiring, leaks, etc.<br />,[object Object], Explain to the students what they will be doing and what is expected of them.<br /> Teacher will use computer and projector to show:<br />Instructional video<br />Sample digital photo story<br />,[object Object]
 Divide the class into 4 groups for them to work together on their digital story activity.Require Learner Participation<br />,[object Object]
For student with disability, they will have a task-completion checklist to keep them focused. They are to check off each task when completed. This also includes a script of what teacher has said in class.

Multimedia lesson #2 A Digital Tale

  • 4. For student with disability, they will have a task-completion checklist to keep them focused. They are to check off each task when completed. This also includes a script of what teacher has said in class.
  • 5. Students in their group will type out their story in MS Word. Their story must be at least two paragraphs long.
  • 6. Once they finalize their story, they will save their story and print out a hard copy.
  • 7.
  • 8. Once story is complete students will save the video, and then complete a rubric grading their team mates.
  • 9.

  • 12. Were the learning objectives achieved?
  • 13. Did the students receive help from the teacher when needed?
  • 14. Did the teacher accommodate everyone’s needs?
