This literary magazine was created by students in Nancy Devine's Creative Writing Class at Grand Forks Central High School in North Dakota. 4. Waiting By: Amanda Bryant How long must I wait How long must I endure Time and time again I see your face But you know nothing. I’ve been waiting for so long Waiting for the right moment Waiting for us to be alone But when it comes My heart sinks. Will I ever have the courage? The courage to tell you how I truly feel Or will I just sit here Waiting for nothing And have you taken away from me. I should say something to you But I don’t know what to say But I don’t know what to do If I say it Will I have to wait? Will you be scared? Then maybe I should wait Yeah Just wait Like I always do

5. Blue Soul By: Brittney moe My soul, a deep blue ocean, calm and cool. A name old and new any key can open My heart an open river unpredictable Rivers sway and sway no telling how dependable Walking around alone I wonder Am I where I am suppose to be Or am I a statue standing still Are they laughing at me? I feel below, way below.

7. The Eden I See By: Kay Folkner A vast garden of color Bright vivid hues Fire of passion Ice of rejection Shallow views of this world Blazing lights of rage The peaceful garden Engulfed in the swirling smoke Never to be admired again.

8. See Moving On By: Stephanie Gladue Drowning in tears Wishing that soon I’ll be fine From the chains holding the pain inside. And though I cry, it won’t be long Till I regain the strength To know I can move on.

9. Purple Knight By: Jordyn Hjeldness Like a first kiss The cold December is better at night. I look to the sky. The stars shine, Glow off the ice like fireflies. The breeze whistles through my window. The starry sky blackens. The snowflakes accelerate, Blanketing the earth’s floor. It chills my spine once again. The moon grows. I close my eyes. The moon explodes, Like fireworks at midnight on the first.

Poem to be Read at 6 a.m. By: Bryanna Cameron Life at fifteen Parents yelling Chores to do Friends in need We just want to do our own thing People don’t understand, New life, Having to share a room Can’t wait to get out, Get a job Start a new life of our own. (Based off the poem “Poem to be Read at 3 p.m.”)

11. Wordy Nerdy Birdie By: Josh Slominski I heard a bird that talks and mocks. The bird was a hawk that heard every word about the herd. It stalked us which was awkward. It bought some stock; what a nerd. We threw a rock in a sock and knocked it out cold. When I walked on the bird, I swore it was dead. It lured the hungry worms.

12. Poem to be Read at 2 a.m. By: Stephanie Gladue (Based off the poem “Poem to be Read at 3 p.m.”) My life was hard. At 2A.M. the next morning, I saw the stars And the moonlight. As it glowed brighter, I fell deeper into a hole Not knowing where I was. I awoke in the dark feeling lost in space And not knowing who I was.

Love Poem By: Kay Folkner, Meliana McGee, Pamela Sanchez, and Brittney Moe I have come to destroy your planet earth Burning in the inferno of my rage For my planet to go through rebirth Capturing your souls in my dark bloody cage I open my eyes to see the sun shine The sun was over powered at midnight Little did I know I had crossed the line Darkness surrounds me with no light in sight Running for my life as the darkness creeps The black ocean takes my life away I can feel my breath slip away by the day Light vanishing in a horrendous way Across the abyss of death lies your fate It can’t be that bad to go on a date.

17. Have You Ever… By: Kate Sebenaler Have you ever opened your eyes to see life flashing, To know that all life will come to an end, and everything will be gone? Have you ever opened your eyes and seen what might come true, and you don’t know if you should tell anyone, because you’re afraid of what they might do? Have you ever looked at a person you love and see them give up without a fight, To see the look on their face and know that they are hurt? Have you ever opened your eyes and known your dreams will not come true, To see everyone else’s, except for yours? Have you ever opened your eyes just in time to say goodbye, To know that they won’t come back home, into your love and heart, alive?

18. Destination Point By: Jordyn hjeldness The immense heat, the lack of heat The lack of life No shade Can I make it out there? My senses distorted My clothes drenched in sweat The joints in my body tense up My hallucinations worsen with every dragging step The heat from the blazing sun catches the corner of the horizon I push myself farther I sit my aching body down Every which way I look Sand, sand like the golden beaches of Mexico. I need to eat I wont make it home I start to panic My eyes open I am in bed

20. First Scar By: Mckenna Amborn When Ali was a little girl, she loved to ride her bike. She rode all day, until the street lights turned on. One day little Ali got on her bicycle. She was going fast and it was going good, until she caught the tree branch on her path. It got caught in her spoke and she tumbled forward and cut up both her knees. Now Ali is older, and she has children of her own. She tells tem the story all the time about how her first scar got on her knees. About when she would ride her bike all day until the street lights turned on.
