TruLaser fiber guided: today
Right now TRUMPF proposes 2 series of fiber guided machines:
TruLaser 5030 equipped with a fiber-guided TruDisk 3kW or 5kW

TruDisk
• source with solid state active material: the generated laser beam has λ≈1μm, and
can be transported through fiber, but the beam is not generated in fiber.
• it is a solid state source far far away from a fiber laser source made up by
many parts:
• LD (diode) pumping module, kaleidoscope
• Cavity with disc, heat sink and parabolic amplifying mirrors
• Resonator with output mirrors, corner mirrors and rear mirror.
Every source with a cavity has a WARM-UP time!
9
TruDisk
• The delivery fiber has a min. section of 100μm (2 or 3kW) or 200μm (6kW),
against the 50 μm of a 2kW fiber source: the beam generated in a cavity must be
“reflected” and “focused” within the fiber, the diameter of which must not be
too small (the diameter of the focused beam will be at least from 2 up to 4 times
bigger).
• 15%-20% efficiency.
9
10
TruLaser 1030 fiber
It is an entry level laser equipped with 2kW TruDisc.
The peculiarity is given by an airplane-type structure
similar to that of Salvagnini, but the manipulator integrates
even a moving exhaust ventilation (higher inertia)
The basic version is without pallet changer, but as option
there are:
Semi-automatic pallet changer (without light barrier and
pallet change by two-hand operation), price around 15.000€.
Automatic pallet changer (with a light barrier for a fully
automated pallet change), price around 30.000€.
TRUMPF counts on user-friendly system, reduced
operating and maintenance costs, quick and simple
installation and smaller footprint.
Automation: only hoist-type loading system installed on
the right shoulder of the machine.

TruLaser 5030 fiber
It is a high end laser equipped with a 3kW TruDisc source.
The axes feature a Gantry drive in X and linear drives in Y and Z.
TRUMPF does not push a lot on the disc source concept: they push on
2 main concepts:
• it is a solid state laser (SSL).
• it is fiber guided, saying that, generally speaking, the fiber-guided
solid state lasers are identified by the word “fiber”.
Thanks to the SSL source.
Thanks to a high dynamics machine.
Thanks to the SSL source high efficiency.
Thanks to the SSL source wavelength.
1313
TruLaser 5030 fiber
TRUMPF introduces a new concept in their marketing: the cost per part.
According to their news release, the advantage on part cost comes just from productivity
(advantage on thin thickness), not from reduced energy consumption or from reduced
consumable and maintenance costs.
TRUMPF pushes on material and operator costs: but these costs are independent from the machine!
1414
TruLaser 5030 fiber
TRUMPF pushes a lot on the cutting quality that can be achieved on thin material by a
machine equipped with an SSL source.
1515
TruLaser 5030 fiber
the 3kW SSL source is compared to a 5kW CO2 source.
a fully enclosed SSL source equipped machine is safe!!
1616
TruLaser 5030 fiber
Only one cutting head for the whole range of
materials/thicknesses (adaptive optics)
Automatic nozzle changer as options (price
seems to be around 30.000€).
Possibility of integrating modular automation.

TRUMPF does not have Tradjust®
like Salvagnini therefore for every
material/thickness the are 3 sets of cutting parameters:
Small contour cutting
Medium contour cutting
Big contour cutting
More job in case of parameters maintenance.

TRUMPF asks for Nitrogen flow of 1l/min even when machine is
switched off.

TruLaser 5030 fiber: maintenance
Every 6 months is scheduled a maontenance
with a set of part to replace.
According to information arrived from a
customer in Hungary the part list ammount is
about 2.400€ + 1 day of intervention.
WE NEED MORE INFORMATIONS ABOUT
THIS ISSUE.

TruFiber
Right now TRUMPF propose also a 400W single-module fiber laser source : it is a SPI
source (English company acquired by TRUMPF in October 2008 for 42M€,
against a turnover of SPI of about 20M€) covered with TRUMPF cover panels.
SPI announced that starting from june 2012 they will be on the market with a multi-
module source composed by 1kW modules for OEM.
Thank you

Benchmark Trulaser5030

  • 2. 2 TruLaser fiber guided: history TRUMPF introduced the TruLaser 7040 (2 cutting heads) mounting a fiber guided TruDisk 6kW at Euroblech ‘08 TRUMPF officially introduced the TruLaser 5030 mounting a fiber guided TruDisk 3kW at Euroblech ‘10 TRUMPF introduced the TruLaser 1030 equipped with a fiber-guided TruDisk 2kW at Fabtech in November 2010 TRUMPF officially introduced the TruLaser 5030 mounting a fiber guided TruDisk 5kW at Intech in December 2011
  • 3. 3 TruLaser fiber guided: today Right now TRUMPF proposes 2 series of fiber guided machines: TruLaser 5030 equipped with a fiber-guided TruDisk 3kW or 5kW TruLaser 1030 equipped with a fiber-guided TruDisk 2kW
  • 4. 4 TruDisk: how it works? 1 2 34 5 6 1 LD bar pumping modules 2 Kaleidoscope 3 Disc pumping cavity 4 Corner mirrors 5 Rear mirror 6 Output mirror 12 3 4 5 6
  • 5. 5 TruDisk: LD modules and kaleidoscope 4 LD bar pumping modules for each disc Kaleidoscope for rounding to the disc the light edmitted 1 2
  • 6. 6 TruDisk: pumping cavity 3 Disc pumping cavity with: •Disc •Parabolic amplifying mirrors •Heat sink Heat sink
  • 7. 7 TruDisk: Resonator 4 5 6 Resonator: •Corner mirror •Rear mirror •Output mirror 4 5 6 4 4 4 5 6
  • 8. 8 TruDisk • source with solid state active material: the generated laser beam has λ≈1μm, and can be transported through fiber, but the beam is not generated in fiber. • it is a solid state source far far away from a fiber laser source made up by many parts: • LD (diode) pumping module, kaleidoscope • Cavity with disc, heat sink and parabolic amplifying mirrors • Resonator with output mirrors, corner mirrors and rear mirror. Every source with a cavity has a WARM-UP time!
  • 9. 9 TruDisk • The delivery fiber has a min. section of 100μm (2 or 3kW) or 200μm (6kW), against the 50 μm of a 2kW fiber source: the beam generated in a cavity must be “reflected” and “focused” within the fiber, the diameter of which must not be too small (the diameter of the focused beam will be at least from 2 up to 4 times bigger). • 15%-20% efficiency. 9
  • 10. 10 TruLaser 1030 fiber It is an entry level laser equipped with 2kW TruDisc. The peculiarity is given by an airplane-type structure similar to that of Salvagnini, but the manipulator integrates even a moving exhaust ventilation (higher inertia) The basic version is without pallet changer, but as option there are: Semi-automatic pallet changer (without light barrier and pallet change by two-hand operation), price around 15.000€. Automatic pallet changer (with a light barrier for a fully automated pallet change), price around 30.000€. TRUMPF counts on user-friendly system, reduced operating and maintenance costs, quick and simple installation and smaller footprint. Automation: only hoist-type loading system installed on the right shoulder of the machine. 1 2 12
  • 11. 11 TruLaser 1030 fiber Machine’s max.speeds shows that TruLaser 1030 dynamics are unable to take the advantages of high linear cutting speeds of a SSL source. 12mm 6mm 5mm 2mm 3mm
  • 12. 1212 TruLaser 5030 fiber It is a high end laser equipped with a 3kW TruDisc source. The axes feature a Gantry drive in X and linear drives in Y and Z. TRUMPF does not push a lot on the disc source concept: they push on 2 main concepts: • it is a solid state laser (SSL). • it is fiber guided, saying that, generally speaking, the fiber-guided solid state lasers are identified by the word “fiber”. Thanks to the SSL source. Thanks to a high dynamics machine. Thanks to the SSL source high efficiency. Thanks to the SSL source wavelength.
  • 13. 1313 TruLaser 5030 fiber TRUMPF introduces a new concept in their marketing: the cost per part. According to their news release, the advantage on part cost comes just from productivity (advantage on thin thickness), not from reduced energy consumption or from reduced consumable and maintenance costs. TRUMPF pushes on material and operator costs: but these costs are independent from the machine!
  • 14. 1414 TruLaser 5030 fiber TRUMPF pushes a lot on the cutting quality that can be achieved on thin material by a machine equipped with an SSL source.
  • 15. 1515 TruLaser 5030 fiber the 3kW SSL source is compared to a 5kW CO2 source. a fully enclosed SSL source equipped machine is safe!!
  • 16. 1616 TruLaser 5030 fiber Only one cutting head for the whole range of materials/thicknesses (adaptive optics) Automatic nozzle changer as options (price seems to be around 30.000€). Possibility of integrating modular automation. click http://www.euroblech.trumpf.com/trulaser-5030-fiber.html
  • 17. 17 TRUMPF does not have Tradjust® like Salvagnini therefore for every material/thickness the are 3 sets of cutting parameters: Small contour cutting Medium contour cutting Big contour cutting More job in case of parameters maintenance. Cutting parameters

  • 44. 44 TruFiber Right now TRUMPF propose also a 400W single-module fiber laser source : it is a SPI source (English company acquired by TRUMPF in October 2008 for 42M€, against a turnover of SPI of about 20M€) covered with TRUMPF cover panels. SPI announced that starting from june 2012 they will be on the market with a multi- module source composed by 1kW modules for OEM.
