What is Manufacturing (MRP) module?

1. MRP module provides the functionality to manage manufacturing orders,
defining bill of material (BOM), routings and shows all records in production
dash board.

2. The management of manufacturing in ERP is based on its stock
management. It is very flexible in its operations . It benefits particularly from
the use of stock management for production orders.

3. Manufacturing management is implemented by the MRP module. It is used
for transforming all types of products.

Issues that are addressed by MRP module

Manufacturing module of OpenERP helps to solve many problems few
of them are as:-

Define BOM (bill of material) and routings –

1. Bills of Materials are documents that describe the list of raw materials used
to make a finished product

2. We can define the Bills of Materials, define its type: phantom or normal
based on how we have to set the BOM structure. Multi-level BOM is also
possible. For example for the SMPS you need on place - power input, fans,
output chords etc

Define Work Center Operations

The basic of manufacturing is dividing the entire process into units called
Work-center. Defining a work-center helps us in making forecast of our
production plans and capacity. The basic idea of a Work-center is as a logical
and physical production area used for routing and scheduling operations.

Schedule best planning:-

Resources can be the raw material used for the production of the
finished good or the human resource needed to be employed at each
checkpoints of the production cycle. The proposed planning is done by
the scheduler where it mentions the number of units of resources
required to complete on production cycle.

Production manager can organize resources or
orders

The views in which the data would be presented can be customized and

assigned to the corresponding hierarchy. When there is too much of data

available, a production manager would not be able to go through the entire

data flow to get details about the products being manufactured. In such a case

the records can be presented in the Gantt view to have a quick access.

make /buy on the basis of sales order.
