1. Library Rules
• Respect the library materials
• Everything has a correct place
• Always share library materials
• Don‛t disturb others working in the library
In addition, all school rules apply in
regards to proper behavior in the
library!
2. Library Resources
• All books are checked out for 7 days unless you wish to
renew. Make sure to place a paper in the book marked
“RENEW” We need to see the book in order to renew!
• Let a library staff member know if you wish to put
a book on hold. We will do our best to ensure that
your request is placed in a timely manner!
• Reference materials and magazines are not available for
check-out, but may be used within the library media center.
3. Library Procedures
• Enter the library quietly in a whole class line
• Stay seated to ensure everyone can view the story
• Raise your hand and wait to be called on
• Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
• Bring only your library book
• Take a bathroom break before library session
4. Checking Out Procedures
* Library staff will dismiss quiet rows 1st
* Walk over and pick out a shelf stick
* Keep it at your side while searching
* When you have found a book you wish to take off the
shelf, place the shelf stick right next to the book but
make sure that it is pushed in
* If you want to keep searching, place the book back next
to the shelf stick with the spine out, take the shelf
stick off the shelf , and continue your search. Remember
to read a page to “Find a Good Fit” book!
* Do not forget to put the shelf stick back in the bin and
get your library card BEFORE checking out.
5. Rewards
• Library star class report: If you receive 4 class
periods with 100% of books returned students will
participate in a “celebration” during their next class
• Library helpers are chosen based on how
responsible you are!
• Each month the students who complete and sign each
weekly reading log will enter a drawing to receive a free
book
6. Consequences
The library is a place for all students to come and
share the love for reading in a friendly
environment.
If there is a disruption during Library, you will
receive a:
• Verbal warning
• Removal from the activity if it persists
*Apology for disruption is expected in order to
participate in remainder of library period*
7. Lets make this school year exciting!
You will have the opportunity learn how to design
literature activities in the library.
We will be using some new tools in order for you to
share good books with your peers and the whole
school.
These tools will promote your creativity to produce
an endless amount of possibilities.
