An Affiliate of Scholastic Art Awards, The Alliance of Young
Artists and Writers. We want our regional art students to be
part of this and to experience the opportunities !!!

2. WE REPRESENT ALL ART STUDENTS
IN GRADES 7-12 IN SIX COUNTIES IN
NORTH EAST FLORIDA.
(BAKER, CLAY, DUVAL, NASSAU, ST
JOHN, AND VOLUSIA)
Please help our kids participate in this competition for
recognition, prizes, and scholarships, and to attend the national awards
ceremony in NYC at Carnegie Hall.
We Need Funds to provide Scholarships and Training for Teachers and
Students, to put on an Exhibit, to Fund the Awards Ceremony, and Help
Fund Winning Students and Teachers to Participate

The Olympics of the Visual Arts Since 1923
The longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S
The nation’s largest source of scholarships for creative young artists and writers
Past winners includes Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon,
Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King, John Updike
Partners with more than 100 visual and literary arts organizations in local communities.
Teens in grades 7 through 12 can apply in 28 categories of art and writing
All students can enter in Public, Private, Home and Virtual Schools
Works are exhibited or published
Submissions are juried by professional artists. Panelists look for works that best
exemplify originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
In the last five years alone, students submitted nearly 900,000 original works of art and
writing.
60 top art institutes and colleges have partnered with the Awards to make
$40 million in scholarships and financial aid available to regional and national Scholastic
Award winners.

11. JUDGING CRITERIA
SINCE THE ONSET IN 1923:
Blind Judging: Our jurors do not know the identities of
students who submit work to the Awards.
Freedom of Expression: No work will be disqualified on
the basis of its content.
The Criteria: Originality, technical skill, and the
emergence of a personal vision or voice.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards has anlegacydating back to 1923. Over the years, the Awards have grown to become the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S., and the nation’s largest source of scholarships for creative young artists and writers. There is an impressive list of successful past winners.
This last June, Usher congratulates the gold medal winners. Students have several tiers of competition to get to this point. The Medals are just like Olympic Medals.
