4. Android phones more popular than iPhones Android phones are officially more popular with new smart phone consumers than IPhones . The Android operating system is available from many more carriers and on many more phones than Apple's iPhone operating system. Most importantly, Android phones cost less, with some being given away for free with a two-year contract. 32 percent of people who bought a smartphone chose one with an Android operating system. The same month, 26 percent bought Apple iPhones, just narrowly beating out Blackberrys, which nabbed 25 percent of the smartphone market. It was the second month in a row that Android beat out the iPhone and the Blackberry.

5. Among people who already own a smartphone, Android phones are still the smallest kid on the block. Blackberry still holds the dominant share with 31 percent of the market, though its lead over Apple is declining. Twenty-eight percent of smartphone owners have Apple iPhones, and 19 percent have Android devices.

7. Total revenues rose to Rs 6,947 crore during the quarter, against Rs 5,585 crore in the same period previous fiscal. The company made a net addition of 7,646 employees, taking its total headcount to 1,22,468 employees . There are significant drivers for investment in Information Technology since any transformation program to build tomorrow's enterprises requires these investments to be made. Shares of Infosys Technologies were trading at Rs 3,137.55 on the BSE, down 1.47 per cent from previous close.

Sony delays launch of latest 'Gran Turismo' game Sony Corp has delayed the launch of " Gran Turismo 5", the latest version of the top-selling motor racing game for its PlayStation 3 console, but still plans for it to hit the market in time for the year-end shopping season. The announcement marks the second delay for the much-awaited game. It was to have hit stores in the United States and Europe on Nov. 2 and Japan the following day. The electronics giant has sold more than 56 million copies of Gran Turismo since its initial launch in 1997, and previewed 3D images of the latest version at the Tokyo Game Show in September. Sony is trying to attract casual gamers to PlayStation ahead of the year-end with its Move motion-controlled accessories, but needs offerings like Gran Turismo to retain the loyalty of core fans.

9. Latest buzz in the Indian IT sector Infosys performance confirms the increased momentum in global IT spending. Against the backdrop of Infy’s double-digit sequential topline growth, analysts expect a similar robust show by other IT biggies, including TCS and Wipro, in the September quarter. India’s top IT firms, including Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro, are set to hire nearly 90,000 this year, compared with only around 20,000 last year. Leading IT services provider, Mahindra Satyam said that it has signed a contract with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA, for design and delivery of a document management system for the child support system.
