1. In Andrew Goodwin’s book ‘Dancing in the distraction factory’ a
number of key features are pointed out that distinguish a music video:
In his book his state’s that he believes:
•There is a strong relationship between lyrics and visuals.
•Different genres will have their own music video style and iconography.
•Record companies demand that there are a lot of close ups on the main
artist.
•Most likely to be a reference to voyeurism, particularity in the
treatment of women.
•There are likely to be intertextual references, either to other music
videos or to films and TV text.
As these points are considered to be important I and my group will try
to incorporate these based on our genre of music.
